So I finally managed to find a 240z which I always desired. It will take a lot of time to make her beautiful again but I am sure the time spent on restoration will be definitely worth it. Not my first car which will be rebuilt (already completed Miata NA version) so I kind of know what amount of work to expect but I am really afraid of rust. There are a lot of non genuine parts on the car so I plan to get her to stock look as much as possible. First I need to start the car after 12y sitting in a barn. I just can't wait to hear the engine. So if anyone here is selling the parts, PM me I am definitely looking for inspection light, mirrors, seats, front bumper, wheel…

Hi, ClassicZCars community. Our 21st annual Z-Car show has a new date and location. It’s Saturday, May 14th at Anaheim Stadium. We chose a different date so as not to conflict with other shows, and a larger space to accommodate more cars. In addition to Z-Cars from 1970 to 2016, we’re also inviting Nissan Skylines, GTRs, 510's, and Roadsters. Best of all, entering one or more in the show is free. This is a “thank you” to the Z community for all your support over the years. We have a weekend of special events planned. More information will be posted soon. In the meantime, check our website for show details at thezstore.com. Thanks.

Since so much of the restoration of a restomod 240z pertains to stock cars I thought I would document all of the normal stuff in this thread and all of the modifications here, The car has rust in all the usual places but a lot less than the last Z I did so I'm hoping things will go a little easier this time. Still playing around with the idea of taking the car down to the chemical strippers and having it dipped, that would save many weeks of scraping, grinding, media blasting, breathing in rust and thinners. Very temping, I have heard all those horror stories of dipped cars still dripping acids and solvents after the paint job is done and wrecking the paint but that…

So i'm troubleshooting a leak and will be replacing the o-rings on the speed gear and housing although at this point they are probably fine. But I've discovered the grommet on my cable is toast where it mates to the part at the trans. Anyone know how to go about replacing this? I can't seem to find it for sale anywhere. I'd prefer not to buy a new cable assembly if I can help it. I believe the parts diagram is here: http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun/Z-1969-1978/electrical/meters and possibly the part is 24250-89943 or 25051-N4500 not sure. Either way, it appears hard to find now... but I'm not sure what kind of place might have one I can buy to re…

I've been working on a 240 that I never drive and am getting ready to sale. Sunday I adjusted the timing and the carburetors. It runs better than ever from what I remember. The timing was at 5 degrees BTDC, I ran it up to 10 BTDC and it seems to run much better at 10. Then I was reading the FSM this morning, I do things bass ackwards, and noticed the timing for a non US car is 17 BTDC. Why is there such a big difference, 5 here and 17 in Japan? What would the other owners recommend for the timing at 800 RPM?

I just finished reading Taryn Croucher's write up on building her silver 1975 280Z in NZ. It's nice to read through all the details and see where her team ran into trouble and how they overcame the issues. Not a 100% real-world build as they are clearly sponsored and have a pile of experts helping, but still pretty great. Hello Everyone, I've been on the forum for a few years; I'm finishing the rear suspension on my '73 right now. I've been buying/selling Datsun parts and cars here and there to supplement my income and to fund the '73. ---------------------- I cannot believe I found this 71. I am still in a bit of shock. I live modestly and can only afford drivers. Now I am debating which car to keep. The 3rd owner '73 that I've dumped thousands of dollars into, or start fresh with an original '71 in my favorite color? I'm starting this thread to document my progress, and mainly, for everyone's expertise. My plan is to get this Lucky Lady as close to original as po…

Does anyone know of a way to tell if a motor has been removed before? I've checked the wire/speedo cable looms and they look untouched. I'm thinking it's the originally installed motor and judging by the pedal rubber the 23,000 odometer reading is really only 123,000 miles. I'm working on a sales ad. I don't want any wrong info so I'm trying to figure this out. Thanks for any tips.

http://huddleston240z.weebly.com My friend, Dave, is in the process of restoring a 1971 240z for a second friend, Iain. He is doing a great job of documenting the process in the above blog, along with lots of photos. I thought some might find this interesting. This afternoon, we're going to tackle spindle pins. This is a job I have not yet done on my 240z, so I thought it would be interesting to help Dave out, to see if the spindle pin and bushing replacement is something I might want to tackle next winter.
