So, while re-wiring my 72, i found that both the ignition switch and the lock cylinder are bad. After looking at all the vendors and ebay it seems they all sell the same chinese re-pops. The lock cylinders dont have the correct keys. But, alas, there is hope!!! Standard part # US-169L and US120, and both are available. I should have them tomorrow from my local parts store and i will update in my rebuild thread. amazon has them both here http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sx_as?keywords=ignition+switch&rh=n%3A15684181%2Ck%3Aignition+switch&qid=1463494332&vehicle=1972-67-2284-20-----14492------1-1

Not to cover the jack support locations but just what is being used and any new stuff. right now I have 4 HF 3 ton jack stands and the HF 3 ton floor lift. The work ok but I don't get a good feeling about getting enough lift for my trans swap. I have some HF ramps, no cross bracing scares me a little, plus too steep an angle for the low profile z. I generally support at the front cross member and the diff front cross member jacking at the front cross member and the diff to get access. I like to remove the tires and put them at the corners as well just in case something lets go, maybe they will save me. I would like to get about 24" min so I …

Howdy, Often when I'm looking at art pieces that have cityscapes or pictures of downtown areas I keep my eyes peeled for cars that I really like. Yesterday I went to the SF MOMA that just reopened and was amazed to see this Z-car as the secondary subject in this photograph, Market Street by Stephen Shore, Sept , 1974. Anyone else know of any other photographs with hidden Zs? This photograph is really amazing, if your in the SF area check out the museum, its open currently, and tickets were free online when I went, you can get up-to 4 at a time. They added 3 stories for larger exhibits, and the area in general is very extensive from what they had. Regards,…

The minimum starting bid of $50,000.00 has been made. Here's the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Datsun-Z-Series-/162068983109?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368 Frankly, even for a low VIN car, $50,000.00 seems very high to me for this car considering the condition of the car with the paint over-spray in places, the poor presentation with only an upside-down picture of the engine bay data plate and no pictures of the engine serial number and other problems. The seller also states the car has the "original AM/FM" which is totally incorrect, as most of us know the '70 and '71 240Zs came with the Hitachi AM radio.

I've sold my 240Z to Martin Kivi, from Norway, and he is driving it up to NYC this weekend, then having it shipped to Norway on Monday. However, his flight out is Sunday evening, and we need a safe place for him to park it Sunday evening until the shipping company can come get it on Monday. If any one can help we would really appreciate it. Hate to have to take a chance on leaving her in a garage at the airport or something else. Contact me at tmccroskey424@charter.net, or 865-441-8301, or Martin's email is kivitransport@gmail.com.

I have the possibility to buy a 1973 240z manual for 1500$. the body looks great however its on primer, i haven't looked a the interior yet nor the floors and gas tank would need to be emptied before trying to start it. however if all these things are good is this a good deal ? it has been in a driveway for 25years + with a tarp on top of it. by the way this is a canadian car or atleast been in canada for more then 25 years. Is there any specific points i should look at before actually doing an investment on this ? question is, is a 1973 240z a car that is worth a lot once fully restored ? i would like to maybe do a "flip" with this car or maybe evan keep it for a whi…

Just got a 280z for free as the title states. Man, it's hammered!! Quite a bit of rust on the floorboards but the frame seems in decent shape. According to what I could find out it was last running in '06 when it hit an approach so i'll have to take alook but initially crawiling under doesn't seem that bad. Also it seems to have had the key snapped off in the ignition and subsequently hotwired. Why they decided to hotwire i'm not sure because I was able to just use a screwdriver to turn the ignition as the key blade was still in it haha! The starter has wired on it and I was able to turn it over by connecting those two so the engine is free. …

I'm about to tear this motor out and then apart. It's kind of hard to do because it runs pretty good today but I can't trust a 43 year old motor's stamina, so here I go. I think updating this thread with the progression of the build will save my butt from mistakes with the help of the forum. My plan is to remove the carbs first then the head and then block and transmission. I know the basics, label and bag everything and clean, clean, clean. I did my 280 a couple of years ago with step by step instructions from Tom Monroe. I'm feeling a little sick knowing what I'm about to do but these beers are helping. Thanks, Cliff
