The gas gauge was on empty, but I figured I had enough to go to the grocery store first, then to the gas station. So I'm heading to the store when the fuel pressure gauge starts going nuts. No engine stalling or other indication except from the gauge. I guess there was enough gas in the float bowl to keep it running although it was intermittently sucking up air. Went to the gas station first instead, put some gas and no more problem.

I picked up some Mrs. Wages Alum from the local Coastal store. Seems like the right stuff, although apparently there are various ratios of elements all called "alum". The ingredients say "aluminum potassium sulfate", no indication of a blend. Found two old studs from past disassemblies, both with nuts corroded/jammed on to them. I try to save all of my odds and ends just in case, and I couldn't get the nuts off of these. So they represent locked threads. Added some water to the alum and it didn't all dissolve so it's a saturated solution. Dropped the studs in to jars containing both the alum solution and another with apple cider vinegar, plus a drop of dish…

Does anyone know what kind of electric fuel pump this is? Can the small fuel filter be replaced on it? I also have a glass filter before it.

i've been collecting sources for parts, articles, good tech threads, websites, etc. over the past year or so and figured maybe they would be helpful for others. not sure if there's already a good "resource library" on the forum, but i thought i'd post what i've got and maybe others could do the same. Disclaimer: these are just links and sources i've come across - no endorsement or business connection whatsoever, just trying to pass on what i've found. ZResources.docx

There has been a lot of disscussion about the series 1, 2 and 3 240Z. The 280Z has similar changes and at first glance August 77 seems to be the change over point. I often see threads getting side tracked about these differences and when they occured. A lot of good inforamtion, but its scattered over a lot of different threads and difficult to find again. This might be a goed way to collect information about these differences and share with other members. To start: Rear Panel Im making brackets for my 240Z bumper mod. The first thing I noticed was the bolt pattern for the bumper brackets. According to the parts fich…

For what is rapidly becoming an annual tradition, Vintage Chrome is once again proud to offer our fourth quarter/year end forum promotion for your plastic plating needs. While we did include metal parts with our promotion from last year, this year we will continue to focus on our core business of chrome plating plastic. We have had to endure 2 cost increases this past year, but have been able to absorb most of them without increasing prices. In fact, in the case of one of our most popular items (260z/280z taillight bezels) we have actually been able to generate a substantial price reduction by leveraging volume commitments. Another significant development this past …

Just finished installing a Vintage Air Gen II mini Kit and a Sanden Compressor 508 model. I manage to actívate the system with the rotary fan control and disabled the horizontal controls once removing the heater box and stock blower. However, i still think this system lacks blowing power as it does not blow enough cool air compared to ac systems of modern nowadays car. Is there a way i can solve this? should i consider the Honda Blower Upgrade to add this up to the vintage air gen II mini kit? Anyone?

I am not looking to spend the big dollars on a commercial rotisserie for my 78 280Z 2+2. Would much rather put that money into the vehicle. I have seen some home made units based on engine stands. Just looking to get some input as the project slowly proceeds. Any ideas on the pivot height needed? Best place to attach ? -bumper supports seem to be the logical spot but someone with experience would know better. Thanks for any input or ideas, John-Lugoff, SC.

As soon as the temperature gets into the mid 70s my Z will start acting up. If I sit at a light for a couple minutes or park for 5-10 minutes it will start and idle just fine but as soon as I try to go it will cut out and buck and jerk along. Once I get moving at 30 mph or so for around 10 seconds it usually smooths back out. I have replaced the mechanical fuel pump with an electric one, added a fan shroud to the radiator. The temperature gauge sits right at the middle, except when going 70+ on the freeway when it moves just a bit to the right of middle. When it is hot and off if I spin the fan by hand it will go about a quarter turn (about the same …

Well I am so pleased with all the work I did last year on the Z I decided to have some fun with her. She has never run so well and feel so good as she does right now. As a celebration I decided to have some fun with my gal. I ordered some static racing roundies and plan to take it form there to make her into a 70's race car for a summer. Go to some shows and see some reactions. Here is where I am so far. Next up I want to get some new wheels and get them powercoated entirely matt grey (14x7 rewinds maybe because I cannot even find watanabe's) Then I will probably get the hood wrappe…
