1972 240z i have a few questions that i cant find the answers to 1 on the wiring schematic there is a light? that is labeled step. is this a light in the door or where? 2 what is the white wire that forms a loop on the back of the tach, and where does it go and what does it do? 3 should i have a choke "on" light, and where should it be? 4 did all consoles have a cover? mine looks like some after-market-jury-rigged crap. is this normal? thanks all sb

Thanks for any replies first of all. Is the crank nose pulley originally the block color, blue/green? Is the TDC pointer yellow cadmium? If so any recomendations on a paint color alternative? Maybe a brass or gold hobby paint? Thanks, Cliff

The one by a member in Russia. Has a nifty super-detailed model. Spent an hour looking here and on google, can't find it anywhere. Bought me a new CAD, Viacad pro, got 30% off for BF. Probably not good enough to open the model he posted, but worth a try. Want to try to CAD some freaky headers, mostly as a learning experience.

I've just noticed that my 72 Z hasn't got a button on the end of the indicator/turn signal stalk to flash the headlamps, my old UK car had one and so did all my friends cars over here, my question is should it have one or didn't the USA cars have this feature? Thanks in advance :-)

Hi I recently bought a wonderful '71 in excellent condition. The odometer reads 59,000 miles which I believe to be correct. I have owned a '73 as a teenager and later, I bought a '72. They all had their 240z issues but I think I got one I can live with. The original owner painted it white for whatever reason (not that there is anything wrong with white, it just isn't the factory color and the factory paint was probably in excellent condition at the time). The second owner painted it back to the factory color. Other than that, it is completely stock. The frame, including the front wheel wells look new. Keeping the car stock is very important to me. I want to k…

While trying to sort out a problem with the horn switch i left my 72 240z at idle in my garage. Results: Temperature climbed more than 3/4, car tended to stall and Rpm dropped to 400 and rised back to 1000 rpm, Havent checked the spark plugs but i can believe they are black. Could the fan clutch need replacement? This should not happen! Imagine you were stuck on a traffic jam for more than 20 minutes????? This is serious issue!

I had a hunch that jeco made rally clocks for more than one car. The guy selling this didn't know what kind of car it came out of. Anyone have an idea?

Hi all, A question I forgot to ask about earlier. I started a topic on it, but cannot find it to add onto it. This part I'd already reported, but to refresh your memory: Regarding RedBird's mystery multiple problems. I realized there was something wrong with her old out of date, small battery, as she went roo, roo, roo when starting. I'd heard this before on other cars, so took her right to Advance Auto to have it checked out. They found out indeed the volts were low and advised a replacement. I agreed, and it was done. New: I forgot to mention to you, when he removed the clamp on the positive side it immediately broke in half. My question is, would that clamp,…

Hey fellow Z owners, I'm working on convincing my parents to let me buy a 1976 280Z 2+2, and understandably their main concern is that the car isn't safe. Being that the 2+2 is heavier and longer, I'm wondering if anyone knows crash test safety, or any good points to use to convince them? Thank you!

This car caused quite a stir at SEMA recently, the product of Z Car Garage and OS Giken. Thanks to the ZCG blog, there's now video -- and audio http://www.zcarblog.com/2015/11/16/performance/os-giken-tc24-b1z-in-action.html
