Round two for the 280Z. I filled up the back of my wife's station wagon and drove over to Jai's house. I put in the battery hold down bracket I fabricated (and my wonderful wife painted). No more twine holding the battery in place. Those are M6 wing nuts holding the two parts of the bracket together. I figure that if a wrench is needed to get it apart, make it a 10mm. Then I put fuel pressure gauge in downstream of the fuel filter. (Thanks Cliff!) There was no pressure in the line when I removed it to splice in the pressure gauge. The car started up and idled fine. The pressure was around 30 PSI. Around the time the thermostat should open, the pressure w…

The mechanical fuel pump is not working. Car has been sitting for 8 years. I know i need to replace/rebuild the mechanical pump. After researching have decided to rebuild. HOWEVER, the pump is surrounded by the air conditioner mount and A/C compressor. Is it possible to rebuild the pump without taking it off the engine??

I took valve cover off to adjust my valves for the first time and found some big chunks of hardened sludge on some screws in the valve cover. I knocked it off but it left crumbs of hardened sludge stuck in the oil in the nooks and crannies of the cover. To make sure it's clean I was going to rince it with mineral spirits. I have no experience so this may be a dumb question. Is there a better way to clean this out? Thanks

I know this is a basic question... I've looked but saw no discussions on engine/engine compartment cleaning/degreasing. I have a clean 77 z with 30k. The engine looks good, however, I'd like to clean it and the walls. Any suggestions as to what product to use and or other suggestions would be appreciated.

So yesterday I took my wife's car to America's Tire (Discount tire) to have her tires rotated. Free because I bought the tires there. I happened to look up and couldn't believe what I was seeing. An advertisement with a Z in it! A ZX but still a Z, no offense to the ZX owners of course. So I had to share it with everyone.

You ever had one of these happen? I was test fitting my front passenger fender and went to put the one of the M8 bolts in - the one that goes into the front of the rocker on the bottom right behind the front wheel. It was a little tight but not bad. As I'm turning the wrench - snap! The weld on the nut inside the rocker breaks. My first thought was, "Oh sh1t! How am I gonna fix that?" followed by, "do I REALLY need that bolt. Of course the last thought was, "Do it right! You've come this far." So long story short, I had to cut the bolt, remove the fender, cut a hole in the rocker, weld a new nut in and then weld the rocker shut. It took me about 3 hours and …
