I got a phone call from a friend who had a friend that had a friend, blah blah blah. I go look at this 10/'72 240 with Webers and some funny looking bumpers. It looks like there has been earlier bumpers put on because the brackets are attached to the backside landing of the bumper. The big brackets aren't touching. I told him he could take those big brackets off and put the bumper back against the car. Did I tell a lie?

Hi all, I noticed recently that there are several variations on the heater hose configuration where they exit the firewall. My 72 ( 06/72 build) is set up differently than others I have seen. See pic. As you can see the upper hose exits and runs the full length of the motor. The short lower hose runs to the engine block/head. Most of the others attach to a 3 way connector at the lower hose entry point. Both the upper and lower feed into it at that point. As you can see, there is no exit fitting on the lower hose on my engine. Can anyone chime in and let me know if this was a factory variation on some engines or a modification made by the PO. My water temp has alw…

Hey guys! My name is Jacob, and this morning I purchased a 1977 280z for $750! I found it on craigslist and I couldn't believe my eyes! The only things I have found missing so far are the radiator and the ac compressor. I know this is gonna be a long process to make it like new, so I sure would love to have everybody's advice and help along the way. Posting pics in just a second!

I thought I'd make my own thread as I seem to make a new one every week or so for this weeks issues. Long story short if you haven't been following, or can't keep up. I purchased a 240z south of the border (yup I'm in Canada), last spring. Over the last year and a half I've managed to bring it back to life (stored for 10 years), get it passed inspection here in BC, and have finally started to have some fun with it. The first day I insured "Crush" Having done little to vehicles in the past, minus some lowering springs on my first vehicle, some minor wiring and a bunch of oil changes I'm new. So far on the Z, I've replace all front end bushings, new tie rods, adjust…

I'm finally rolling up my sleeves and starting a "right proper" restoration. I'll be calling on all of you for guidance, information and support.... especially Mr Arnett.... and of course parts! Here is ground zero... coming into Canada a few years ago: Photos of the drive home from Maine to Nova Scotia

Well I have had my Z since 2008 and have loved it with every drop of blood and sweat in my body. Still do, just love her to death. Every now and then I get the hankering for something a bit more exotic. Call it stupidity, call it insanity, or just call it what it is. I have a short attention span. I have started to get the itch for some german or Italian metal. Namely a Alfa GTV or a Porsche 911. Now the long nose 911s have floated beyond what I can ever afford. But the SC's and on seem to be in my wheel house. I was thinking of selling my Z AND my roadster as a pair (or separately) and hopefully I can get close to enough cash to snag a decent 911 or GTV. I kno…

I have some new engine mounts that are very tight. I could Dremel the rubber and make them fall in place. Don't want to take away any rubber and they will slide into the engine bracket ears from the side. My question, can I put the engine mounts onto the brackets then lower the motor in taking special care not scar the threads on the mounts (they came with plastic sleeves over them, add some tape at the bottom). Then I'd have to hit one hole per side where the perch is. Has anybody done it this way? Thanks for any replies.

Just took my car 4 weeks ago to a shop in Panama to do the following to my 240z: 1. Install Sanden 508 compressor and bracket 2. Install Vintage Air Gen II mini evaporator under the dashboard 3. Replace damaged Ahmeter with a good one which i provided 4. Replace all dashboard bulbs with leds which i also provided 5. Install a working servo diaphgram and throttle opener valve. 6. Install the hoses and condenser. 7. Install an MSA Fan Shroud I have called the mechanic several times and he advises he is still working on it! How much longer should i wait? Does this really take that long? He asked me for US$200 in parts to purchase the hoses and condenser and is billing…

I am in the middle of the AC installation on my 240z and due to the fact that i had to install an electric fan in front of the ac condenser, i will need to relocate the horns from their original location to elsewhere or change their position in a way! Any recommendations on where to place them? They will need to be near or else the connnecting wires wont reach the horn terminals.

Bought this little gem because I thought the idea was good to see when things got dirty. It left me stranded on the road at 11pm on the way to work. Had to leave my Z in a church parking lot until towed to a buddies house. I had previous issues with my engine acting like it ran out of fuel, but blamed my Mikuni's and my Holley regulator. You could see fuel in the glass so I ASSumed all was good. after it left me stranded me and my buddies dug into things and found that the fuel flow stopped at the BRAND NEW filter. The cartridge filter is held inplace on a threaded pipe by a nut. I guess they didn't get it tight during assembly and the nut was free to rome up and down t…

This past weekend, a group of friends who are car enthusiasts took a short Fall Cruise down a stretch of Historic Route 66 between Dwight and Pontiac, IL. It was a gorgeous, sunny and blue sky October day. We had 10 people in 9 cars. I was the sole Z, and sole import for that matter in the group. One guy had an awesome 8K mile 1970 Superbird that was really mint. Other cars included: Factory Five Cobra, '66 Mustang, '71 Torino,'74 Grand Am, '76 Trans Am, '67 Camaro convertible, and a 2015 Mustang. The new Mustang was designated chase car in case someone broke down. Fortunately we did not need to press it into duty. The first stop was an old Texaco Gas Station …

Setting up my timing components I would think #2 hole would be the middle, not retarded or advanced. What says the crowd?
