I went to see the new Mad Max movie yesterday, and during the scene where Immortal Joe traverses the rocks I noticed an S30 among the other rat rods. So this morning I did an image search and found the off set shot. It's pretty subdued compared to the rest of the cars in that movie, but nice to see anyway.

I'm just rifling through the 9 million bolts here with the 01/70 resto project. I found a bag of these bolts, brand new (top right: 08120-8501E) that sandwhich the trans halves together. The ones I have pulled from the trans, and also some of the ones that I have discovered in the box-o-bolts have a head marking that says TR on one edge of the hex, and 7 on the opposite edge of the hex, and the washer is slightly thicker than the new ones. On the new one, it has the italicized "7" that I have come to expect on many of the datsun bolts, as I've seen 7's and 9's embossed on the hex heads on most Nis/Dats. Now I know I'm splitting hairs here, but I have…

Great looking RHD example from the Bay Area -- anyone in this group? Seller will sound familiar to some here as well. http://www.petrolicious.com/this-nissan-fairlady-240z-l-is-a-rare-japanese-survivor

I haven't seen anything around that has solved this conundrum for me, so forgive me if this is a topic that has been beaten to death, but I have found an early '74 260z near enough to me that the cost to buy and ship it will come to $3,750. It seems to have a complete interior, but will need a new dash and carpet. The paint will need to be completely redone, and the engine is not working. I plan to go see it on Saturday, but I'm hesitant, because I'm on the fence about 260zs in general. If it turns out to be truly rust and dent free, would you go with this, or would you hold out for a 240z? I feel like if I found a 240z I would restore it, and if I were to do a resto-m…

I just picked up a '73 restoration project and am looking for some good Z books (this is my first Datsun). Does anyone have any recommendations? Ordered a autometer z-series vac gauge that may go where the clock it, or maybe in a swivel bracket under the dash. Anyway, I'm not using the nylon tubing that comes with it, not the right look for my engine bay, and they say it kinks. The meter has a 1/8" NPT male fitting I think, will see when it gets here. It will attach to an unused 1/8" BSPT vac fitting on the balance tube, using a 1/8" Male BSPT to 1/8" male NPT adapter, and a NPT Female (or M to F) elbow on the adapter. Plan to use compressed air or air brake hose. "Made" hose with NPT fittings would be a plus. Looks like I need about five ft. to go from the balance tube, behind the motor, through the firewall un…

Hi, I have just one question, I had two early tail gate trim panels(including the one came with my 240Z), and found they are slightly different finishing touch around air vent area. I am sure my 240Z's panel is the original, came with the car from the factory. This trim panel has a small black panel with air vent holes attached to the panel body. I have bought an early trim panel from the U.S. some years ago, this panel does not have a small black panel, just air vent holes are placed on the basement. Is this non-small black panel one earlier than my 03/70 240Z? If some one can check this , please let me know. kats

Ime trying to get parts to do alternator upgrade on my 77 280z, but the auto parts stores around here are telling me that the only 70 amp alternator they can get is from an 84 300zx. They also tell me that all alternators made for 280z and 280zx are all only 60 amp. even the turbo cars. Arent the turbo cars suppossed to be equipped with 70 amp alternators. I would like to upgrade to get away from the voltage regulator, and I would also like to find 70 amp alternator, as I have a 2000 watt dual amps pushing 2 15 inch subs, and 2 1500 watt 6 x 9 kenwood 4 ways, and 2 piezo tweeteers, so Ime thinking I should run something a little heavier than the stock set up. I do have a …

Just wanted to toss out an invite to anyone in the area - Mark Maras, myself and Jim (S30Driver) will be meeting up for brunch in Enumclaw, WA at the Lee Hotel 10:00 am this coming Saturday. Mark and I have been trying to get together to swap stories and carbs, and will be driving up from Oregon, and Jim is getting ready to move out of state, so we figured we'd open it up to fellow z folks in the area. Nothing formal, no planned drive or show, just some car talk and a feast our wives wouldn't approve of. The address is 1110 Griffin Ave. and there is plenty of parking on the East side of Railroad Ave.(Kasey Kahne Blvd.) Anyone interested?
