So, I finished my gas tank referb with all new vent lines. I put 20 liters in it and drove to the gas station expecting to put in at least 40 more to fill to the 60 litre capacity, but it clicked off at around 32 liters. Hmm that's about 8 liters or 2 gallons short. Got in the car and the gauge doesn't quite go to full. So I did a search and found that I can probably get the tank fuller if I fill it slower towards the end. But then I looked at the gas tank and realized that to fill the tank some of the fuel would be sitting in the rubber filler neck. As long as my clamp is tight that shouldn't be a problem, but it seems like a poor design. Do you guys fill to the b…

Hi everyone,i've had my 280 for 3 years now,and is finally getting close to being finished.I have a question, mine is factory Orange(not Red Code #110).The code tag is long gone, and last owner had the car painted the same color as factory, and I do have the paint can,but newer paint# doesn't help.I'm having my Roll Bar Powder Coated, and would like the org. paint code#.Here's some picture's of org.paint on the inside,so we know this is factory color.Any idea's?Also here's picture's of my 4-point Roll-Bar a good friend built,he kinda got out-of-hand,from a simple 4-point,but it turned into a work of art,IMPO.Thank's for any help,Tom.

Hey all, I just got an email from Mike at Whitehead performance. He is having my restored 1971 blue on blue 240Z appraised so I can update my insurance. I don't have the report in hand yet but it's going to be valued north of $50,000!!!!! I know I wouldn't get that price in a sale, but for insurance coverage thats great news! I'll be interested to see the report, It may be time for a review of your agreed value with your insurance company! Mark

Hey all, I am starting a thread to document the restoration of my blue on blue '71. I have driven the car for 4 years now, and have finally accepted that I lack the time and heated space and, let's face it, the skill and determination to do the work myself! I have always admired the work done by the members on this site in preserving and modifying these great cars. I feel slightly ashamed that I am not in this category! Here are some pictures of the car being loaded in Beaumont AB in -25 C! Thanks to advice from members here I hired Mackie Moving Services to provide covered door to door transport. The car should arrive at Whitehead Performance Monday. Mike Hansen, the ma…

I don't take this lightly but my car is toast. When the toe hook pulled out of the frame rail I should have walked away. That was 3 years ago and it's been rotting outside since. The frame rails are gone the floors are gone, the fenders were fiberglass decades ago, the door jambs and sills are gone. I started taking the interior apart to find the passenger wheel well seam ready to fail. The only decent things left are a few of the interior parts and dash assembly. The engine is frozen but the car was sitting mostly intact until yesterday. She's going to donate to my 72 project and if anyone needs an rare part let me know. I'll probably post parts to auctio…

So the car I have been restoring had a custom aluminum evap tank that was fabricated to replace the original one. I have not been able to cross reference as to whether or not the original is to be of a plastic kind or a metal kind. I am curious to know if the later model 71-73 or 72-73 (whichever it is), can work on the early 01-70's. I believe the hoses I have are actually the OE hoses and look to be in OK condition, but as far as I can tell- those are also discontinued, along with the clamps on either ends of the hoses too, right?

I recently got my girl (3-71 240z) back on the road and after about a month and 1k miles, I'm wondering if this is the car for me. My question her is if I decide to sell her, how much should I ask? The body was completely reworked and painted, motor, trans, and carbs have been rebuilt. New windshield, clutch, master and slave. New brakes all around. All built to stock, with the exception of a modern alt, and headlight harness upgrade.

Anybody know how to go about getting one's CZCC membership number? IIRC, these used to appear under 'Profile' but now they're blanked out. I need my # to qualify for a discount on an MSA order.

Hi all - I have a question - I know the law on the matter, that on my title, it will say that the mileage is not accurately shown. But is it ethical to reset the odometer to 0 if : It is a new motor/trans/diff/radiator/floorpans/rails/wiring/lights/rear hatch/brakes/master cylinder/etc etc etc? I'd like to reset it, just to keep up with mileage on the motor without doing the math. Thoughts?

Found this early Z on Ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-base-coupe-2-door-/141655790164?forcerrptr=true&hash=item20fb57d254&item=141655790164 I live close by so I contacted the owner via ebay so I could take a look in person. I didn't get a response. I wanted more interior pics of the floor boards. It looks like he must have pulled out the motor when it was painted since the engine bay isn't colored the same way as the exterior. Wanted to know if he worked on the engine when he pulled it out. The rear bumper looks bent down. What are your thoughts on this car? Thanks Larry

I've pretty much decided to thin my small herd a little thinner, I've got 5 cars and a 3 car garage. I bought it a few years ago from a guy who needed money so he sold his 240 project. Car is all original now and runs good. He had an F54 short block and an E31 head, triple Weber 40s and a Tilton aluminum flywheel bought for his build that never happened. I'm keeping all that stuff and selling the car as is, original motor and rust with a worn out suspension. It's had a respray that is "orange peeling", they say it's a 10 foot paint job, inside 10 feet it don't look so good. Here's some pictures to look at. What should I ask? I was thinking $5,000. Here…
