I need to give a shout out to a new Z friend of mine. You know there isn't a lot of us out there that are passionate about our cars -especially Z's. This past year I found out there was a guy with a 71 just on the other side of town and was doing a full resto. Ever since we have been sharing stories, work and a drink every once in a while. I have a lot to learn and Steve(great name too) has some stuff to share. We are both trying to get our cars done in time to go to Memphis while both of our wives laugh at our efforts:) Steve has the ultimate garage with a lift(I'll make good use of that) and a true passion(like let's start a z salvage yard) for the Z car. He really f…

Hey everyone I have a 77' 280z that has two major issues that I am currently aware of. The first is that im getting raw fuel on the spark plugs in cylinders 3 and 6, I'm assuming that those two are companion cylinders. I replaced the plugs, cap, and rodor and still had the same issue. I believe that the fuel injectors are stuck open. Any help with that would be great. As for the second issue I seem to be losing pressure every time I press the throttle down. Honestly when it comes to that issue I have no idea how to even start fixing that. The issue just happened this morning when I turned on the car to go get the flywheel machined. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Al…

Has anyone tried VW seats in a Z? I'm looking for something comfortable, adjustable and modern for the trek to Memphis. I was impressed with my friends VW seats. Thx

A friend backed into me, making a small dimple in my front bumper - about 1" in diameter. Rather than go through insurance, she bought me a new one. in order to re-coup some of her costs she asked for the dented one to try and sell on craigslist, but I'd rather it go to someone here on the forum. If it was up to me, I'd offer it as a "pay it forward" but I'm trying to be fair to my friend. It's a Black Dragon reproduction and is in otherwise great condition - the only damage is the small dimple in the front face on the right side. $150 + shipping, PM me if interested.

I'm a couple of posts in but thought I'd say hi from the UK, I've just got a 72 240Z which I've bought from Spokane WA and as we speak is on its way from LA to Southampton, it had a suspension off restoration in 2011 and has covered around 2000 miles since, I'll post up some pictures if I can, I'm not new to 240Z's I had one 32 yrs ago when I was 18, sold it for a TR6 then bought it back after a few years and had it restored, kept it for around 10yrs until I bought a 1980 911, when I was 35 in 2000, I had them both for a short while but with a young family I couldn't justify/afford to keep them both, I always regret selling it and looked back fondly at the times I had wi…

I'm a member of several other car/truck forums that we own and now that we've aquired a 1970z, this seems the place to be. As this car is only three years younger than I, I don't know a whole lot. Long story short, I now have a 1970 240z. The date of manuf is 8/70 with VIN HLS30-08989. It is a one owner car bought off the showroom floor in Nov 1970 as an anniv gift to my wife's aunt, it is automatic . I'm hoping you all here can help me figure out what I have, as I have no clue. The car has been parked since 1985 in their garage. It was running when they parked it, but when I picked it up, the battery was missing and instead of trying to mess with it, I loaded it o…

My 71 240Z started doing this late last summer. At the same time it started killing the battery after parking it for more than 3 days without driving it because of parasitic voltage drain. After reading through numerous threads and endless hours of unsuccessful electrical troubleshooting of these problems, this is what I have figured out to remedy these issues. At first I thought the ignition switch was faulty. The new switch didn't change anything. I thought that maybe the new ignition switch was bad too, but before I got too carried away I decided to go back again and try to figure out where the battery drain was coming from when the key was in the off or lock position.…

To help pay for my trip i usually bring back some JDM stuff in the suitcase. This trip i picked up some brand new 280z hood vents, calendar clock and 260z jdm tail lites. Has anyone seen one of these? I've never seen an oil pressure with the scale that this one has. Would this crank be salvageable? The rust pits look pretty deep. If you engine builder guys out there think its fixable, I could fit it into my extra big suitcase.

I had to pull my oil pump. Anyways my distributor is set at about 35 degrees total advance at about 7 to 8 initial. I have a gen 2 zx distributor in my garage. Not sure if I want to use that over my original since I have a pertronix hooked up to it and msd. My car runs fine I just wish I could pull more initial timing for more power. I can't afford a mallory. I heard u can do something with the weights inside but I'm not old school enough to know how to do that with a distributor. What would you guys suggest? ?
