So the my fuel tank is in and the new fuel and vent lines under the car are done ; yayyy!, I expect the vent lines to the vent tank should be a snap in comparison. Do I need to loosen a line near the carbs and let the fuel pump push out any air before I try and start it. I expect there is probably a lot of air in the fuel Thanks Steve

Chet Wittel was talking about this video today. The car making the pass in the grass was piloted by John Williams. Chet said John's crew told him it was the last lap before it was the last lap.

So my tank has been boiled out, POR15'd and ready to install. I have new fuel sending unit, new filler neck, new vent and fuel lines on order (Should get them from GreenLine Hose early next week). So I was wondering if anyone had any tips to help with the install. All those damn hoses are going to be a pain to hook up. I'm figuring I'll put the fuel filler, the vent tank lines in place and then with the tank supported, but not all they way up start with the fuel in and out lines as well as the fule filler neck and work my way around on the vent lines. I remember when I dropped the tank, getting to some of the clamps and pulling the lines off was really tough …

So, one bit at a time my 1970 Z is finding its way back to respectability. Hope to have her back on the road in April. Some progress pics..... Front and rear spoilers are GONE, holes patched and sanded. Body sanded down and excessive bondo repairs replaced with mesh supported fiberglass. Hubcaps coming along (yes, I know they're the wrong ones for a 1970, but I like them). She's running solidly now, and the interior is about 80%. Tail light on the left has been polished and restored, one on right is as they came to me.

I bought a new fuel filler hose, but the old one was missing the 3 bolts to bolt in on under the car. Anyone know the bolt size? Thanks

I took the z out for drive today with a buddy of mine. He mentioned that he saw some "puffs" of smoke between 90 and 100 mph. I revved it up to 4500 rpm in nuetral and there is no smoke. So Z car brain trust... any thoughts?

Hi, I was hoping someone could assist me with a drivability issue I've been having. When the car is off, the gas pedal is easy to depress, and entirely normal, however when the car is on, the pedal becomes difficult to press, and if i press too much it will gun it. The car in question is a 73 z, l28, flattop pistons, mild cam, roundtop su's, throttle cable conversion. Thanks for any help, I'm hoping its something dumb and simple. Also, the car is running a little rich as of the moment if that matters (needa tune the carbs)

There's a 240z being auctioned on http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-datsun-240z/ . It looks pretty rough so I guess we'll see where it ends up.

Salvage Title? 1 2

About two weeks ago I got rear-ended, the driver's insurance company accepted full responsibility. Doesn't look too bad (still street-legal and drivable), but I took it to the body shop that repaired and painted it when I got hit a few years ago; they removed the rear interior panel and pointed out that the floor pan is pushed in at the spare tire area. They (body shop) said the insurance company might total it, in that case I would get a check and a salvage title, and would be able to fix it and pocket a little cash. I might not have any options, but I'm wondering what having a salvage title would do to the value of my Z. Not that it's a show car or professional res…

Hey everyone! Joining up on a couple Z forums so this is my intro post. I'm a recent college grad (Mech Eng from Virginia Tech) and I picked up a 1978 280Z from California and had it shipped to me in Charleston, SC about a month and a half ago. The car has an incredible interior for its age and minimal rust on the underside. Body panels are a bit dinged up but I've already acquired a few replcements. Came with an L28, R200, 83 5-speed swap, poly bushings all around, CAI, and some lowering springs. Short term, I plan on getting an MSA 6-3-2 header, Twice Pipes, and some wider wheels/tires. I'm currently waiting for a few remaining parts to do my Dapper Lighting projector s…
