Hello all, This is my first post and thanks for letting me join the forum. I am a new Z owner and recently purchased a 1971 titled 9/70 car. It is missing the engine bay data plate that lists the motor number that was original to the car. Is there a resource where I can run the VIN and come up with the original engine number? I would like to check if the motor has been swapped or not. It has an L24 with the E31 head in it right now. The car is HLS30-10278. Thanks!

Well I bought my 240z 16.5 years ago and decided I should see what it has cost me. I used it as a daily driver for the first 6 years and a summer/fun driver for the last 10. I added up all my receipts and the total came to $14,544.65 $1000.00 of that is the original purchase price back in 1998. $5614.58 went to general maintenance. This includes a partial engine rebuild, head gasket, a couple of starters (seem to have bad luck with those), and one alternator. It also includes a lot of trouble shooting various problems and minor maintenance items. $4425.07 went to body work. That includes $1600.00 in accident repairs (I HATE the 405). and $2700.00 for an …

I have triple Mikunis with a Mikuni manifold. Do I need the coolant tube that runs around the back of the engine? I have a metal tube. Didn't it connect to the manifold? If I need it, where does it connect? 71Z with a F-54 block. What does it do? Thank you.

Hey guys I've decided to list my last pair of used kick plates on ebay at no reserve incase someone needs a decent used set. I'm local I'm in portland oregon. There is two 4.11 diffs at my local picknpull that I can pull off a 720 4x4 if anyone wants one. They are front diffs so miles are probably under 10k. They charge about 120 bucks for each diff. Pay me whatever you feel it's worth for me pulling the part. Just trying to help the z community.

I suspect this may have been discussed in the past here on this forum, but it always makes for a good read. If it is true that we are judged by the company we keep, I'd say the 240z is keeping some awesome company these days. Hello everyone. I have some nuts, bolts, clamps basically hardware that are in pretty good shape. I would like to soak them overnight in a liquid cleaning solution such as simple green or Castrol's super clean. Does anyone have a recommendation on what to use that won't remove the original plating? Thanks!

Hi, All, Feels great to be back! After taking an 8 month hiatus from my chrome plating venture due to health issues, I am finally back in the saddle again. Over the course of the past 6 months or so, I've had quite a few requests and inquiries regarding my future plans for the plating service. Also, some of you have inquired as to whether I'll be offering the year-end forum promotion that we've done for the past 2 years. As for the future plans, I have recently taken on a partner whom many of you may know (Randy Lewis). Randy is an active Datsun guy who owns a 240z, 510, and a 311 roadster and is even more passionate about Datsun's than I am. Moving forward, Randy…

You must not be able to buy these anywhere. I can't find any. I have new adjuster bolts. The square part on the left is leaning on the rubber- plastic part on the right that the adjuster bolt threads go into. Does anyone have a fix for these? Thank you.

Hello, It's been almost 4 years since I took my car apart and now I'm putting it back together...And i just realized I did a terrible job labeling and documenting parts. Can someone help me ID this part? I'm thinking it's part of the dash... but where?

I am looking to sell my 1971 240Z but am having a hard time coming up with an asking price. I've stopped paying attention for a long time to what is selling. I've had the car here in Arizona since around 2005. I hope you guys might have some advice. First, here’s the story of the car as I know it: I bought it around 2005 from an ad online for around $4,500 sight unseen from a guy in Chicago. The car was built in late 1970 but is a model year 1971 240z. Once I got the car I set out to find out when it was made using the VIN numbers. The car had one VIN inside the door jamb and another different one inside the engine compartment which is HLS30-14160. I can no l…
