So I know exhaust smells the the cabin is an age old problem, there are tons of threads about it and I think I’ve read them all over the years. I restored a 72 and knew about the issue so I was careful to address any and all leak points I was aware of during restoration. I replaced all the surge tank hoses, and all the grommets from the fire wall back to the hatch of the car. I have ensured my tail light gaskets are good, my hatch gasket is perfectly sealed, the shifter boot is sealed etc. I have the car running and driving/handling better than I ever thought it would. When the windows are up, no smells but the minute I roll the window down I get exhaust. …

So, I wanted to bring up this topic to get a better understanding of the gasoline these L24-L28 engines were designed for. It is my understanding that modern cars today are able to burn various blends of gasoline and ethanol. Older cars are not as well suited. I believe it is a combination of metals used in valves and such and the ability for modern cars to adjust timing to compensate for fuel differences. I’m not sure when regular gas went away but I think it was in the mid to early 90’s. I had a 66 VW in college in 1990 and could find regular gas everywhere. Then I recall later having to buy lead additives when I still had that car in 2001. It was stolen in …

Hey guys, I'd like to replace the window frames (already have replacements) on my 240Z and have OEM mirrors drilled into my doors. Can you recommend a shop in the So Cal area that can do a good job? Thanks!

I am wondering who everyone is using around the country and how do you feel about the results? It would be nice to find a plater that could handle the Datsun hardware and make it look good but wasn't irritated at helping the hobbyist out. Distance is really irrelevant because the difference in postage is insignificant to getting good plating. I have been trying out a plater in Phoenix who will for the immediate future remain nameless. I have been less than impressed!!! I sent a package out weeks ago. Got strung along with they're almost done, almost done for the last couple of weeks. They called and took payment last week and I received a box today. The par…

Wondering if anyone has a good frame dimension chart on the 240? I have the one out of the FSM, but its a bit hard to read. I read in an old post that there was a large tIFF file floating around but I haven't found it. Thanks. I am trying to make it easy on the frame guy as most people tell me their stuff doesn't go back that far.

Starts at zero. Is this not a 240z speedometer? Series 1 start at 20, and series 2-3 start at 10?

Hello all, I am working on my 1971 240Z and cleaning up the engine bay. I am wondering if anyone has experience reproducing anengine ID plate (from the engine bay with engine and VIN number) as mine was lost a long time ago. I am going to buy a reproduction plate from Zeddsaver but I do not know the correct font and size for the stamps. Can someone help? Thank you!

After reading how close texasz and daddz VINS are, I thought it would be kind of neat to see if any other members here have Z's that might be consecutive. I have searched for the old topic i ones made but can't find it anymore.. So made a new topic and i do have a set of 3 rare (same) parts.. for sale but it aint a cheap.... Here some ultra rare EURO rare licenceplate lighting units... in more or less good condition.. one is without the glass incerts.. sold them many years ago for a few euro.. 1 polished and 2 are in grease.. the polished one is on the rest of the pic's. Those "rings" on the last one is not rust but just a sort of dirt that comes off easely.. ( They , the 2 unpolished ones have a bit of rust on the inside.)

I've been restoring a 240z for over 4 years now, and in that time, I have been having fun collecting parts for it. It seems to me that there is a fun aspect of this car hobby that comes from finding and obtaining old Datsun parts. I suspect there are many of us here who are "hoarders", those who engage is this aspect of the hobby and who have collected either a large amount of Z parts, or perhaps, some amount of quite valuable Z parts? Or, both? So, who are you on the spectrum? Are you focused on collecting parts for just one car... or do you have a hoard to be envied in either its massive size, or high value? And please share some description or pictures of t…

I have a 1976 280z. I am putting in a new dash and would like to restore the eyeball vents, mainly by stripping/painting the flaked off fake chrome coating. I can remove the round center section but can't figure out how to remove the flaps that open or close the vent. I see how they attach to the round part but without removing the knob I don't know how to get it out Is the knob non removable? Are there aftermarket replacements?
