'72 240Z My gauge sort of works, when I fill up it goes to full, but then it drops quickly to half full hangs around there awhile then slowly drops to about 1/8 full which is generally when I refill it. The odd thing here is when I fill it from 1/8 full I can only add around 10 gallons. Which means I have 5 or more gallons left. At first my searches led me to believe that my float may be filingl with gas and acting strangely as a result> but then I ran across this post from an admin over at Hybrid; "The shape of the gas tank makes the first 1/2 of the tank go really fast in relation to the last half on the gauge. There is a lot more volume in the tank when it reads t…

I did my wheel like everybody else. After sanding the rim I wiped it with mineral spirits to get the dust off. I liked that look but I went ahead and did the Helmans coat with some semi-gloss I had already. Turned out good but I don't like shiny so I re-did it with satin, spokes and the rim. Now I'm HAPPY. On the horn pad I covered DATSUN with Vaseline before I sprayed it and the black wiped right off, old school trick from painting cabinets without removing the hardware.

Pinemont Salvage. Lots of rust and some decent parts. Saw an 240Z front bumper in good shape and a 280Z front bumper in decent shape.

I recently acquired these slotted mags wheels for my '72 240. I have never seen center caps like this with the D on them. Part number is 40343-W5710. Does anyone out there know about these? I love them and am thinking they are very rare.

Hey Folks, Now that I finally have the car running, in pretty fine shape I've been contemplating what to do next... The suspension is pretty much stock, as is the engine (original L24 with 120K miles).. The engine seems to be in pretty good shape.. still pulls real strong.. only thing is it might need is new valve seals. I've been thinking of either having the original engine rebuilt, or swap in a 280zx turbo engine, or swap in a Rebello built 3.0 engine.. I'm sort of leaning towards the Rebello option with either stock SU's or a pair of the modified SU's to start with, and then swap the SU's out for an after market FI system at a later date. I figure the motor will r…

Has anyone towed a 240Z for 800 miles with a car cover on it? I like to keep my car out of the sun when I can though I know that a car cover flapping in the wind can wear off paint. I do have a very soft cover that I could attach with strong spring clips at the wheel wells.

I want some opinions here if that would be cool, I'm 20 (gonna be 21 soon) and I am considering this 1976 Datsun 280z . I have a small job and a lot of time, going to community college with like 2 or 3 classes depending on semester. Currently on the prowl for a new job, something for more money... I know a lot about cars and love them (especially Z's), and my dad loves and knows how to work on cars (owns a 71' charger he built up) and would love to learn more about mechanics work on something with him. Seriously considering auto technician school also if that helps. I have $2,000+ or so saved up and I am earning more as we speak. I plan of using most of that money fo…
