Anybody put 414a in an R12 system? I know some folks have put 414b Hot Shot in theirs but I can't find it around my area, not sure if it's still available. I can get 414a and my HVAC friend says it's a direct drop in for R12 commercial use, freezers and coolers, but he doesn't know about older auto systems. Thanks for any help, Cliff EDIT: Maybe I've got that backwards, sorry. I'll read more on it.

The original AC units for the series 1 cars, were they installed by the factory or the dealers? Thanks, Chris

Long time lurker, just bought a 240z with the original L24 and an '83 5spd. But it has a fiberglass body kit that I'm not a fan of. As I'm told it was moulded into the body. It's an extremely nice car, very little rust, floors and spare tire area are in great shape. How difficult would it be to remove said body kit? Once I have respectable pictures I'll post them. Thank you in advance.

Finally getting around to my long put off conversion from the big 280 rear bumper to the 240. Did the front 240 bumper a long time ago. Driving around to burn up some gas, trying to only have a few gallons when I drain the tank to get the passenger side shock mount out. Stopped at the local marina. Very nice day. Everything more or less ready to go, removed all 3 17mm nuts above in the hatch area, and 2 of the 3 14mm bolts below by the fuel tank. Only the middle one remains, the filler neck hose blocks it. The secret to getting that shock out looks like the 4 screw access panel in the right rear wheel well. Once removed, you can see and get at many things much ea…

Talking with a customer earlier today about his 260 2+2 automatic he's finishing up. Don't have any clue what it's worth or who might be interested in such a critter but thought I'd help him out by getting it in front of you all as you are my favorite people. Craigslist Las Vegas if you want to take a look. Cheers

#6301, just picked it up expecting to strip parts off of it and junk it. Has the original motor (I assume) with E31 which doesn't look like it has been cut. Trans is in the passenger compartment. No interior outside of pedals and the heater. No hood, no hatch, no doors. Sounds great, right. Now for the good part. This thing is really solid! It was kind of rolled up on top of a little tiny hill, and I guess that kept the rain off for the most part. Frame is very straight, just a dent on the passenger's side rail and a dent in the pass floor. Never jacked up on the fenders in front, and they look like they have almost no rust at all. Rear quarters are also surprisingly rus…

Can anyone inform me about the fuel injection systems on the 260 and 280 Z cars? Really only two questions. 1) Do they act independently of the ignition system? 2)or Do they depend on an electrical trigger signal from the distributor? 123Ignitions will work with mechanical injection systems,,, so inquiring minds would like to know. Thanks in advance Ed

First of all, I am very new to this forum haha. There has been a late-build 1969 240z in my family ever since my grandpa bought it brand new in 1969. It sat for 30 years, mostly outside in southern California. It only has 83,xxx miles on it! My family doesn't want to get rid of the car, however nobody, except for me, is interested in restoring it or fixing it up. As for me, I am 16 years old and a HUGE car enthusiast. Im the only one in the family who wants the 240 to fix up. My aunt and uncle recently brought the car to my house in Palm Springs. This is how the car looked when it arrived: My plan is to restore the car, and do some mods to it. Me being 16, I am a hug…

What happened to the "I spy a Z" thread. I can't find it. Anyway, the wife and I were cruising down I-15 near Barstow California, on our way back home from Vegas, and we passed this beautiful lime green 240Z cruising along. Looked like a 72. We gave them a thumbs up and they waved back. Good looking Z! You could tell it is well taken care of. Hope it was someone from this club.

Not a huge issue yet, but during the last two summers, when the car is parked outside & the interior heats up, the tachometer will rise from 0 to between 1 - 2000 rpm and just sit there. This is with the car not running, with a shade for the dash / front windshield, and usually occurs when it is hot weather, high 80's & 90's. Driving the car, the tach will respond at higher rpm's but will not drop below 2000. Looks like a sign to me that the tach is getting old & needs a rebuild or replacement. Anyone else experienced this or have any insight.
