If you wanted to customize your valve cover with come engraving or such, you 'd need to first mill the fins off the top, leaving the mounts for the spark plug wire holders. Is there enough material on the top of the rocker box so you could mill it flat without going all the way through? I think so, and I'm interested if anyone has done anything like this.

On my EFI 280z, I've replaced a leaky cold start valve, all injectors, fuel pressure regulator, and check valve. all hoses are good and I can't find a leak anywhere. However, it takes about 6 hours for my fuel pressure to leak down and I still can't get rid of my "hot start" vapor lock issue. The car will start, but air in the fuel lines and missing on a few cylinders for a few minutes until it all smooths out. I'd love to solve this issue, but short of injector fans and dry ice, I'm not sure whats left to do. The car runs at a normal temp, 180-190 or so. A little cooler maybe on the interstate. Stop for 10 minutes on the hot day, and it will be a rough start.

I just took out my fully rebuilt 260z for an "around town" trip that was longer then usual. The issue I am have is that when I parked my car and then got back into it, I had issues accelerating. It almost felt like one of the carbs may have been cutting out and I was revving up pretty good with no great acceleration. As I would stop and go, it was come and go, but when I went to get onto the freeway I topped out at 70mph with the engine making a loud slurping noise. I have no idea where to start looking and this car has to make the 800+ mile drive to ZCON in a week and a half. Please help. Info on Z: Stock L26 (all emissions taken off professionally) and Manual Transmiss…

actually i think i may have a blown head gasket. nice replaced a leaky radiator (it was toast) and when i got her all filled up i noticed billowing white plumes from the tail pipe. also got a geyser shooting out of the little vent hole in my coolant reservoir tank. smells like burning propylene glycol... i think mr. murphy caught up w/me very quickly. so it looks like maybe the head's gotta come off sooner than i had hoped. anyone done this recently? any tips?

Hi all - I had a guy pull into my driveway last week when I was working on my 72, and he told me he had two Z's he was trying to get rid of. He was going to race them, but decided on Camaros instead. I went by yesterday to see what he had, and here it is: 1) a 72 240 POS - only good I could see on it was a complete motor and a decent hood. Otherwise, shot. 2) a 81 ( I think) 280ZX, with 5 speed. Good news is they are both free, in Cumming, GA if anyone wants. I don't want them, but I told the man I'd put them up on the forum, so I have. I can go back and take pics, no problem, if anyone has interest.

Okay, a bit of an odd request but here goes... Would anyone be interested in helping me gather up some sound recordings of their 1st Gen 240/260/280Z? A student in the UK made a nice computer model version of the 240Z for the rFactor2 Racing Simulator program. However he did not have access to the proper sound samples necessary to make it sound right. When I saw his work, I helped him with refining it a bit - getting the 4SPD and 5SPD gear rations correct, tweak the suspension specs to make it handle properly, etc. All that's left is a proper sound pack for it. For those unfamiliar, these type of sound packs are comprised of a few specialized recordings, such as the engin…

First off, hello there, my name is Brad. I am new here... and yes this is another SHOULD I BUY THIS post so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I've been searching my local area and nearby states for a Z car (specifically pre 1979... no ZX). I am planning on doing a budget build and not a restoration. I will be going for the classic JDM look (fender mirrors, flairs etc.). I am a performance car enthusiast and currently daily drive a 2011 Subaru STi, however performance is not my end goal. I already have a great performance car so I want something that looks different for cruising and taking to some shows. I love the way the classic Z cars look, even stock they ar…

My oem radiator is not cooling enough, especially on the highway when driving above 75 mph for longer than 5 minutes it gets to hot, the needle on the dash goes almost all the way to the right. I want to keep the Original radiator instead of an aluminium one, I have found a good radiator shop, but they charge 350 EURO for re-coring ex tax. Would this be worth it ? The better aluminium radiators including shipping will be the same price or more, only the cheaper aluminium aftermarket radiators would be a cheaper option right now. What would you guys advice ? Or is there anyone here who has a good oem 240z radiator for sale willing to ship overseas ? Gr Bart

Hello everyone. I am putting together a 72 Z I bought disassembled. The PO had the car sandblasted, and then topped off with 1 coat of paint. Eveyrthing is in pieces except that it's a roller, doors and brake, and fuel lines. I wanted to start with putting the body back together but my friend suggested to get it running first which makes sense. Below is the steps I will take to bring the z back to life. -Start off with installing the fuel tank, and all accompanying hoses and vapor canister. -radiator and components. -install new seals on the engine. -check engine main bearings(PO had engine rebuilt a few years back and never ran) -new clutch and hardware -new seals on tra…
