Okay, I couldn't resist. I saw a '73 on Craigslist that 1) looked fairly pristine 2) seemed well priced 3) was very close by and 4) had a cool seller. Smog equipment is gone and car has '72 carbs. All else is original. I'm knee deep in a truck frame swap that I'm working on, so it's not like I have the time, but you all know the story. The seller's grandmother was the original owner, the seller was number 2. 75,000 on the clock, original paint (don't get me wrong, the paint is worn out and the hood was primed due to the paint flaking off but it's lime green/yellow which I've always liked) and the only rust is some spots on the passenger's dogleg. The car has been sitt…

at the local o'reilly auto parts store (yup, they know me by name there) and wound up parking next to this cool buggy based on the plates, i think he's about as far from home as he can get short of alaska/hawaii... best part was having to give him a push across the parking lot for a bump start :classic:

Hello all. First off, let me say I had a lengthy post typed out a few weeks ago, but the website didn't have me logged in and of course during the process of logging in it cleared all my text. Lame. Trying this again now... I am 30 y/o enthusiast who has been wrenching and learning on my 2005 WRX STi for the past ~9 years. Mechanical engineer by trade, and very capable of doing most mechanical repairs and troubleshooting. Zero experience with body work and welding, although I plan to learn. I have connections to get parts fabricated if need be (sheet metal and machined parts if necc.) I will be attempting to do all work myself with the exception of painting (i plan t…

I got this a couple of years ago and am ready to get the cam kit for it. I've read go wild not mild to prevent detonation problems, but cam specs are all over the place so advise me please. Can't decide whether to put it on top of an L28 with flat pistons or the L24. It's got the big intake valves and steel seats, also teal colored valve seals. All new a few years ago, never been bolted down. maybe I should use the N47 I have.

The old brass radiator from my '71 240z has been deemed not repairable and would need to be re-cored. It is not an original Datsun factor radiator but a replacement radiator, probably from the 80's or 90's. Before I take it the scrapper I was wondering if anyone out there is looking for one of these? If so I am in the Austin area and would let it go for free to a Z owner.

What are the best ways to maximize the value of a Z car? I feel like the most valuable Z cars are those in concours condition, or extremely clean, unmodified cars. So in restoring my own Z, I've been careful to keep every single original part and the modifications I'm performing are reversible and tasteful (in my opinion of course). So, what type of modifications do the least to hurt the value of a Z, or maybe even increase the value? For instance, I'm upgrading springs (Eibachs), shocks (Tokico HP), and bushings (urethane kit). I would think on a super low mileage beauty these upgrades may actually hurt value slightly, but on my 177k '77 I imagine these can only make it …

the z is parked while i wait for a replacement head, so i figured it's a good time to tackle the intake. the egr had rotted out, so i hacked off the bad parts and ground it flat to take a blank off plate underneath. then the whole thing went into the vice and i went beast on it with the sawzall, hacksaw, die grinder, scotchbrite, steel wool and buffing wheel. webs gone, vestigial bosses ground off, lookin' good. i've been thinking about a pallnet fuel rail for a while, but i decided to take a page from blue's book and modify the oem. hacked it apart, re-routed the flow and plugged the end - really cleaned it up. it's not super fancy, but i like it better than the trump…

I've had this thing sitting in the garage for a few months now. Never got around to installing it. Finally put it on the car yesterday and Wow, all i can say is wow! My car feels like a completely different car. Gone are all the shakes/rattles from the rear of the car. It feels completely solid now. Going around turns... no flex at all! The car's tighter, more agile. Even simple things like going over bumps, potholes, driveways, etc. No flex, and the load is distributed so evenly, you can really feel it. Probably the best thing i've done to change the driving experience of the car for the better. I never thought it would do so much! My only regret is not buying the front…

I've ran a straight hose from the bottom coolant inlet to the rear bypass tube for the intake manifold and plugged the cylinder head water outlet. This is temporary until I can get the heater hoses and heater valve replaced, this winter. Thanks for any opinions. Cliff

Please help me identify the part I have attached a picture of. I am listing a bunch of 240Z parts for sale, but I am not sure what this is or where it came from on the car. It should be from a 1970-72. I assume it held something, but I am not sure. Thanks!
