Here's HLS30-14821 - A California car that made her way to TN in the mid 90's and recently on to GA. This is a numbers matching blue all over Z. Production date is 11/70. It's got all the Seires 1 goodies. Rear hatch vents, vertical defrost, speedo starts at 20, 140 lbs oil guage, knob on the gas door, solid steering wheel and plastic tool boxes behind seats that don't lean up. There's rust in a few of the normal spots and a good bit of work to do, but overall this is a survivor. It's had only one paint job and needs another one bad. Looks like a tree hit the drivers door. Other than that rails are solid and straight and no major body damage. It came with a ton of…

I've been enjoying this site and the assembled knowledge for too long without giving back. I don't have much , but I do have passion! I have 4 cars, 2 drive, 1 is in process, 1 is parts. My first ( in process) is a Aug/72 , 110 lime green. I'm putting in new floors, rear fender arches, vintage air, and of course new paint. My 2nd z is a Feb/77, 305, triple Webers, zx 5speed. The third was a parts car for the 77, but the engine wasn't locked up and it fired up with ether, so after strapping a 5 gallon gas can to the front and zip tying a fuel pump to it, we destroyed the rear tires doing donuts in our gravel lot! It is a Feb/78 color is still indeterminate. Here is an ima…

I couldn't post this earlier since it was a surprise but thought the Z crowd might appreciate it. This is a drawing done with colored pencil, marker and paint from an incredible artist in Poland. I had this one done as a Father's day gift for my dad. I also had one done for my GM 427 powered BMW wagon (note the GMW ) I figure if anyone else has some cool art to post, this would be a great place to share so feel free to add your drawings, paintings etc. http://przemus.deviantart.com/gallery/

I'm thinking they meant collapsing but after google.com-ing I can't find an answer. Is it removing one round of the springs to lower the car? Thanks for any clues or for deciphering the bill. IMG.pdf

Hello! I've had my 240 for 6 months now and am just now getting around to posting. First, the car. A '71 Series I that was originally silver and is now blue. All it needed was an alternator and rear shocks.(no, I didn't pull the pins. I don't wanna pull the pins.) It's been reliable ever since. It has dealer AC that I've not bothered to put a belt on; its got the fried parking light circuit fuse which has been temporarily fixed (yes, it's fused and even relayed, but there's still a toggle dangling out the side of the console); and it doesn't idle. The choke must be used to manually control the idle. This doesn't cause any issues. Drives great, to me at least; I don't kno…

Another 69 car up for grabs. "I am posting this for a friend. He has a 1970 Datsun 240Z. Mint condition. No rust to speak of. The only place where it is at all tender is the floor pan around the seat mounts. The engine bay and part of the underbody was greased, lathered in the stuff, years ago. This being the case, the paint is absolutely perfect underneath it. It is a 4 speed manual tranny. The build date is 11/69. The serial number for this car is HLS30-00400. There are only 86747 miles on the odometer, and with the condition, I can safely say that there is no 1 before those numbers. The car sat in a barn for the last 15 years and as such, the motor is currently stuck.…

This concerns a 1976 280z: Last time I filled the tank I noticed the fuel gauge only read 1/4 full. How do I determine if I have a faulty fuel gauge or gas tank sending unit?? If I need to have fuel gauge rebuilt where could I have that done. If sending unit issue: repair/clean or replace. Where would one find a gas tank sending unit for '76 280z?? Thanks for any input!

I got it! As per my post earlier this week I pretty much had a deal sewn up on this 1971 240z Series-1 #8011. I am happy to say the deal is done and the Z is safe and sound in its new home next to my 1973 Karmann Ghia. The trip up to Dallas and back was as smooth as can be expected. I left Friday after work, spent the night at my mom’s house in Plano, picked up the car in Dallas early Saturday morning, and was on the road with the Z by 8am. I rolled in to my house near Austin just a little after 11am. Once I got the truck and trailer returned, devoured a Sonic cheeseburger and proceeded to take a 5 hour nap. :0) Below are some pictures I took this evening. The car…

Hi All, I haven't ventured much away from the Fuel Injection board so this is a foray out into the broader site for me... Background I have 1976 280Z that I have been working on slowly for a couple of years. I bought it in 2012 for $1200 but came to me in pieces. The body and frame were pretty clean though for these parts (I am in Mass but the car grew up in CA). Yesterday was the first time I took it out on the highway and ventured further than 10 miles from home. It was a little bit more of an adventure than I hoped for but, all in all, it turned out just fine... Besides the work on the EFI system which is detailed elsewhere (mostly all new/rebuilt including in…

Filter manufacturers say use only 100 micron filter on suction side for carbs. I have a new one ready to install by the tank outlet. OK to eliminate the one by the mechanical F.P.? I've also got a new high-flow 40 micron that was going there, but might not need it (and I wouldn't be following the instructions). Concerned about particles in the 40 year old hardline. I did run some braided wire attached to a drill through it couple years ago, and last week put some Gumout fuel injector cleaner in the tank, hope it got most of whatever was left in the hardline. The electric fuel pump by the tank is removed.

Hey guys! Like the title says I nabbed my first Z car I ever spotted in the wild so to say. Owner wanted to scrap her, his mechanic said she was too rusty to drive, so she sat since 93. I will eventually restore her to stock and enjoy her throughout my ownership, really happy to finally call it mine.
