I'll be working from June 20-30 and may have some free time to meet and turn wrenches or coffee, etc.

Here are a few Z cars that were at a show I went to last weekend. I wanted to get some more info on them but it started raining. Anyone recognize any of these cars?

The borrowed wheels will stay on so they're not really borrowed just repurposed. Didn't run, now runs great, didn't shine either.

I posted a month or so about the engine failure in my Z. Tore it down this weekend. Holy yard sale! It appears to me that the main cap came off followed by two rod caps. One of the rods came completely out of the block having separated from the crank and the piston. Very unexpected and it did not make any noise. Very mild vibration in the shift lever about 10 seconds before it locked up in third at 2500 rpms. I had my hand on the lever and said out loud "somethings weird" and ....... the guy behind me said he saw a puff of white smoke and brake lights. The blue engine is the one going back in and am tickled to report it works perfectly.

Long story short, my father had a 72 240z that we were going to fix as a father son project. Unfortunately he passed before it could become a reality and its time to find a 240z of my own to build with my sons. I have a starting budget of around $4k. I live in Spokane Wa and am willing to travel 500 miles or so for the right vehicle. I have found a 72 240z that is a few hours away from me. The owner know nothing about the car. I have talked him down to $1500 for it and might be able to get if for a little less. He says that there is no visible rust and the the motor ran when he got it, but wouldn't hold a charge. Would run for a few hours on a full battery…

a few months ago i did an interior project - pulled out the back deck spacers and lowered the deck to get more storage room in back. also made a hinged flap to access the tool compartment wells behind the seats. i needed to make some new, lower spacers to get the deck level above all the various lumps/bumps in the sheet metal, so i used short pieces of pvc pipe and self-drilling, self-tapping screws to go right down through the sheet metal and hold everything in place. it worked out just fine and i've been happy with the added space (i actually do grocery runs in my car!). today i had the car up on ramps and was messing around the rear suspension when i saw a shiny screw…

I am trying to find center caps for the turbine style wheels. These are on a 78/280z and I think are the original wheels. The opening has a outer shoulder that measures 3.25" but the inner opening is 3.5". Anyone know where I can find center caps to fit these wheels. I have looked at MSA,summit and on the internet but cannot find what I think would fit. I plan to paint them so any material would work. Thanks for any replies, JB

From time to time I see someone post about their intent to purchase (or have recently purchased) an S30 with the intention of restoring it. Once in a while we also get to see feedback about the unforeseen costs of a project and a decision to halt or abandon an effort. I thought it might be of interest to some to get a pretty good feel for the costs that might be incurred in a resto project so here is a tracking report on my project. Here's a bit of background on my starting point and the project: - a one owner car, always garaged, never wrecked or broken. - always a Dallas-area car, no rust. - 92K miles when it was put away in 1982 due to badly leaking valve seals. - b…

Been a while since I posted.. I'm not really sure when the problem developed since I go easy on me car in the winter but since things have warmed up, my '73 has run like crap. It was sputtering, stalling and on occasion, dying. The problem seemed to mostly happen under load. In fact it idles okay - not great, but okay - and revs pretty good too. I noticed it was running a bit hot (I think my aluminum radiator may have sprung a small leak ) so I topped off the oil and coolant. It seemed to help a little. Today, I gave the carbs a scratch tune, and got it running seemingly okay. I set the float levels, I set the throttle stops, I set the mixture -everything. It seemed …
