Hello, my name is Goob (my birth name Jeremy) and I snagged this from the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA yesterday. 1972 Datsun 240Z L28 motor with moderate cam, Eibach springs Boge shock Front and rear sway bars 6-1 headers 4 speed trans Air dam Electronic ignition. It has been sitting for 3 years so I have some work to do. This is my first restoration/project car so I hope to learn alot and get this Z back on the road. There are a bunch unkowns with this car: Milage on the motor What cams How the electronic ignition was done Will she start/run but this is what makes it fun...right?

My 70 240z has a hell of a noise. From a stand still, it ratchets, about 4-5 times. Once on throttle, no more noise, but it occurs if i let off throttle, and then back on. Its not there at any other time, and i cannot seem to find what it could be. Anybody had anything similar, or ideas on where to look? Thanks.

I haven't been able to get the engine running for the last few weeks so did some testing and posted a thread in the Electrical section on how I suspected the coil, with the help of SteveJ and Zed I figured out the Pertronix ignition module was fried, apparently these modules don't like to be powered up without the engine running and I had more then a few hours with the power on this winter so I could chase down headlight and fan gremlins. So I thought I would just change over to the new 123Tune distributor I had. I dropped a pencil through the #1 sparkplug hole so I could watch it come up as I turned the crank to TDC (I have done this dozens of times with no problems) b…

I have been trouble shooting my 78 280z for about 3 weeks now. I have replaced the fuel pump with a msd 2225, new air flow meter. new clear fram g3 fuel filter at the engine and the tank before the fuel pump. new thermostat. new temp sensor, cleaned the injectors and installed new o rings. new fuel pressure regulator new vacuum line to the regulator and distributor. new fuel line and clamps from the tank to the rail all new fuel line.I have done every last test on the ecu with my multimeter according to the fsm. I also have a fuel pressure gauge just after the filter at the engine. I can charge the fuel system by running the pump only. the filter at the engine fills up an…

I'm having a difficult time finding a 3:70 ring and pinion set for the R200 differential installed in my 1971 240Z. Does anyone know where I can get the gear set?

Anybody got a "best" method for priming an EFI fuel pump besides filling up the tank and cranking the motor?

Greetings Z folks, I'm new to the forum and new to the Z worldl. I am in the market for a project car and have been looking at a 1975 280Z. All my past restorations have been either American muscle, or British. I have no idea about the value of the 280Z. The 1975 has been parked and covered for many years. Engine is not running. Rust is mainly surface panels (I live in Georgia and salt on the roads is not an issue with rust on the frame) and the interior is well worn. It appears that all the parts are present. The owner wants $1200. My initial thinking was $600. As I said, I am new to the Z car world and have no idea what the true value would be in this condition. My ot…

Hello all, this is my first post, hope it isn't in the wrong place. Anyway, I'm currently helping a friend sell his '76 280z. It isn't "practical" enough for school, whatever the hell that means, and he needs something with a little more seats. I think I care about this car A LOT more than my buddy unfortunately, and I recently did a ton of work on it in preparation for sale, basically doing everything that my friend was too lazy to take care of for all of highschool (headliner, carpet, stereo, bled the brakes, changed the oil and other fluids, cleaned it). The only problem is that now I have no idea how to sell it. I've sold more modern cars before, but this car is a b…

i've done a bit of searching, but can't find anything definitive about safe revs for my '78 280. to be clear - this is a DD and i'm not drag racing or autoxing, so i'm not looking for the very last pony out of the engine, but i'm really not used to this motor at all (more familiar with old american iron) and i've been afraid to rev past 5500 because i have visions of something coming through my hood... after sorting through various fueling and electrical demons, the car is running fantastic (finally) it's really addictive to wind it up and send the rear end sideways (on a closed course, being driven by trained professionals only ) but i don't want to break it. i know t…

I purchased my 72 from the original owner's son in law. It had been repainted, but was pretty much unmolested. It has what appears to be a fiberglass OEM style valence, and headlight buckets. Are these typically after market or could they be OEM? I am just curious.
