Hello all I am replacing the front disks on my S-30 early 72 with a new set of rotors I got from Amazon. I was putting things together with the hub/rotor assembly mounted onto the spindle, bearings set and torqued, the disk seemed to be 1/2 inch farther out then normal from the brake back cover. When I tried to install the caliper, it confirmed it. Like I said the bearings are properly seated and the spindle nut was in the right place with no visible problems and everything lined up. Is there a difference in years and models of the front disk for the Z cars. Better yet, I would like to know the exact measurement of the disk shoulder(the hub mounting face and the rotor fa…

Hi all, Been lurking for a couple months while slowly restoring a new-to-me 1978 280z with the help of all the great info on this forum, and of course my new friends at MSA and Black Dragon... Just wanted to introduce the project to you all. History: I'm the 3rd owner - the PO bought it for his wife back in '83 with 30k miles on it and she drove it until she passed away a few years ago. I was lucky enough to find a very original, relatively rust-free example and I've been having a great time working on it. Work Done: The PO was a very nice older gentleman who meant well, but lacked a decent mechanic... The car was believed to be a "reliable daily driver" and ready to…

I was waiting on a side street to pull out onto a highway and this younger guy drifted out of his lane to the right and clipped my front bumper. His rear right tire tore off 1 of the rubber bumpers on front. Scared the s h i t out of me. Nobody was hurt and it barely hurt my car.

Im buying a 71 240z some time next week, i have test drove/looked the car over and there is only one small rust spot on passenger rocker panel. There is A big CLUNK when i put the car into gear and the owner says that it needs a new U joint, Is this a common Problem? He has the new U joint to be put in the car. I am buying it for 3,700 so its understandable that there will be issues, just want to make sure im not getting worked over.

Remember the game I spy? Well I thought I would start a Z version! This game might work or might not, but there should be some winners! Anyway, how many times have you seen a Z close to where you live or somewhere you frequent? I know I have and wondered what their story is or if they are members here. So if we had a thread going that stated when and where you saw the Z and some kind of description, maybe there can be some awareness of fellow Z'ers in your area. I'll go first

I assume there are a number of S30 Z owners in RHD countries, like Japan and Australia. What do they do for parts unique to the RHD version of the S30 240Z? I heard of one source, a shop in Japan somewhere called "Jalopy" but didn't have any luck getting any replies. How do you keep them running and street-legal?

Look at what I spotted on the way home from work today. This was sitting in a car lot. It appears to be a 72 or 73. This was as close as I could get. It looks, to be stock height or even a little higher. Probably tires. I couldn't see any visible rust from 150' away. The place was closed, left a note on the gate begging them to call me. I'm worried, the car lot is not a sales lot. It appears to be a holding yard that moves cars in and out every few days & open the gate only when car-haulers are coming and going. Tomorrow, my son is going to "camp-out" there and try to talk to someone. The chances of getting our hands on this are probably slim to none but we'll take th…

I had some holes filled (mirror and spoiler related), rust on the lower fender rockers repaired, rear deck below the hatch replaced (some minor rust) and a few other issues taken car of. New front windshield without the blue stripe, etc., etc. I pick up my rear bumper from the chrome shop later this week. It needed minor straightening and a rechrome, but I am too excited to wait to post the pics. The color is Audi Solar Orange. It is a solid color and I went single-stage. I want to be able to repair scratches, chips, etc. myself with a bit of touch up and sanding/polishing. Yes, the Mazda 5 is MY daily driver........ At the paint shop (thanks to John Williams): …

So I am having a problem trying to understand exactly where the vacuum lines go on my new turbo conversion. Think any of you could lend a hand on how to route these darn lines...?

i bought my z around Christmas. i am about to join the army and i don't have the heart to let it sit even longer. after i bought it i changed the oil, spark plugs, plug wires, disruptor cap, rotor, points, fuel filter and ignition coil. now she is running strong. all the seals need to be redone. the previous owner told me the car was side swiped on the passenger side and backed into in a parking lot on the driver side. i was told there was no frame damage. the biggest rust problem is the passenger floor pan. the spare tire area has a bit of rust due to the dry rotted hatch seals. the frame rails have little to no rust. all matching numbers. l24 with early su carbs. list o…

I have an early 74 260z 2+2 with factory E12-05 transistor ignition and stock electronic dizzy. Car was starting up and idling fine 2 weeks ago. Last week went to start car and it fired once then nothing (no spark). After testing the coil (pertronix flame thrower 1.5 ohm rating (1.1 ohm primary and 8.99 kohm secondary as tested)), pick up coil in dizzy 6.99 kohm at plug and to transistor box, and ohm'd wires from transistor box and all seems ok. . Then I noticed that I would get a weak spark when the key was turned to start , nothing while cranking ( would get a weak spark once in a while), then would spark when key was released back to on position. Me and my bud…
