I am in the process of restoring an early car. I have some later 240z door hinges on it now. One of the early style were broken. One of the pins on the folding bracket broke at some point and allowed the door to extend back too far and bend the sheet metal. The early series 1 door hinges do not look too reliable. I am debating on whether I should fix and install them or just stick with the later style. Does anyone have an opinion. Are they as unreliable as they appear to be?

I have a 1976 280z. Bought it as a shell and I am redoing everything. Under the dash, in the upper kick panel area on both sides it appears there are round openings that have been tack welded or riveted and sealed shut. I also have openings to passageways in both inner fenders up by the core support. I ran some fish tape down the passageways and I'm wondering if they connect to these openings that are blocked off. It seemed like they would connect. I would love to potentially use these to run wires through for a cleaner look. Can anyone shed some light on this? Maybe these were fresh air intakes? If so, how were they controlled? A…

it’s not coming from the carb cooling bypass hose. Could be coming from the intake or exhaust manifold though? I don’t have the intake/exhaust torqued down, but would coolant flow through there? Shouldn’t it just be air and fuel? head gasket maybe? That didn’t appear to be wet, but maybe I missed it. any ideas would help. Thanks!

I just bought a set of 240Z window frames to replace the current ones on my car. My only reason for doing this was the previous owner drilled holes into the frames in order to attach mirror plates🤦 The replacement frames look great minus a small gash on the passenger side. What’s the best way to repair this? A stainless steel repair shop? Honestly don’t know..

To me the most interesting aspect of the comments about this car is the universal praise for the competence of that outfit in OK. Most of you know who I'm referencing, the one with the multiple convictions for fraud. However, this continues to prove that there is indeed a sucker born every minute. On rare occasion BAT has featured a car from his shop, or if we can believe it did indeed come from his shop, and they haven't been anything to write home about. By the way, I like the car and expect it to fetch a pretty penny. To restore it or do just the safe & reliable repairs needed and enjoy the patina, the universal question!

Still uncertain if this ahmeter is reading correctly. I know fuel does read correctly. Asides from this, the plastic lens is turning so i need to use some kind of glue to stick it as the factory. WHich is the safest method for removing the gauge without damaging any wire or leds? SHould i remove it through the glove box or through the front air conditioner panel?

I sent my 72 bumpers off to be re-chromed. I got them back and they look very nice. I had a NOS set of rear bumper rubber strips. They are too long. When I look at pictures I see two different positions for the bumper guards. Some cars have them in line with the back up lights and some have the guards just about over the exhaust. Mine are just over the exhaust. In all my z years I have never noticed this. I know you guys know all about this! Please teach me. Here are two examples I found online. I could cut the rubber shorter, or possibly change the position of the guards. It seems the smaller guards are farther out, and the ones in line with the back up lights look…

I picked up a 240Z a few weeks ago that came with 300ZX mirrors mounted on the window frame via ugly plates. I'm in the process of removing the mirrors/plates and replacing them with OEM chrome mirrors. Whatever holes that were on the doors previously have been plugged and painted. Can someone tell me the positioning specs for the mirror? Maybe a video that shows the process? Thanks!
