Auto Flexplate. 1 2

Hello, I'm looking to obtain a flexplate for an Auto' 1972 240Z. I was told that the plate from a later 280ZX would fit so I managed to find one on-line but the plate and ring gear had been separated. The plate had gone off with the engine so I purchased the ring gear but having removed my starter I can see it won't work. Can anyone confirm that the ring gear is from a 280ZX, I'm not sure. If anyone has a plate for sale, please let me know. Thanks.

Series I or II? 1 2

I'm the proud new owner of a 1971 240z and I'm trying to gain insight on whether it's a series I or II. I've done some reading, but the clues are a bit conflicting. Maybe you can tell from the VIN?: 12043 If not... case for series I 1.) It has factory installed plastic tool compartments behind both seats. The jack, etc. are secured behind the passenger seat. 2.) There are no vents on the sail pillars. 3.) The previous owner said it was a series I case for series II 1.) The original color was Green Metallic 113 (still visible in the engine bay and floorboards) which according to the chart on zhome.com was a 72' color? it was repainted 907 Dark Green during restoration in t…

My PCV hose is greasy inside and about shot, just ordered a new hose, have a new valve for it. The cam cover vent just has had a little chrome filter on it. Noticed the filter was gunked up, cleaned it, but seems like the setup could be improved. I guess some people drill a hole in the K&N backing plate and put a hose barb there, but don't want the gunk (fumes ok) going through the intake. I'm splicing a little strainer/filter in the PCV hose to keep some gunk out of the new PCV valve. How about teeing a hose from the cam cover vent into the PCV hose before the strainer ? Is there a reason not to do it that way? With the stock air cleaner setup the fumes from both pl…

Ok I love my Z but this is crazy. She's been running AWSOME but all of a sudden she won't idle below 2200 rpm. I've texted the sensors have great fuel pressure checked the fuel regulator and the cold start injector. Everything looks fine but yet she won't idle where she's supposed to. Anyone have a similar problem and knows how to help I'd appreciate it.

Hey everyone. I posted an ad on CL this last weekend with free (and cheap) parts. I decided I'd offer them up here too since everyone here has been so helpful. The goal is to keep Z's on the road...let me know if you have any questions. BTW, the ad also has some parts for sale on it...but it wasn't worth it to me to post them in the classifieds section--I can ship those as well if there was something there you needed. The free parts are marked "$0.00" so you can tell. Hope they can help someone out! PM me if you're interested. We'll have to guess on shipping costs, but that shouldn't be too hard. The car is a solid, one owner, silver 1972 240Z, stock and unmolested except for undercoating and 14â€ slotted mags (both upon original purchase) and an aftermarket stereo head. 128K meticulously maintained miles with full documentation and all maintenance records since day one. Solid bodywork—when rust reared its ugly head, the owner replaced the panels and, concerned about color match, painted the entire car. Records are a study in Z car durability. Never mothballed or neglected, oil changes, tune ups, valve adjustments, radiator flushes, etc were all done like clockwork. Interior is stock, intact, and in very good condition. Because the car is so nice and ori…

Hello Classic Zcar Community, I came across this mint '72 240. Would you all consider it a good deal? 1972 Datsun 240Z garage find Would it be worth trading my newly acquired '75 280z for? 280: Upgraded exhaust & headers, ATK built L28, Upgraded suspension, $5,500 JBL IASCA sound system, Rims & tires, 5spd (bought 280 for about 10k) Minor body issues (light dents here and there, minor rust at dog legs) Well-maintained for a 38 year old, but not restoration condition. Opinions appreciated. Thank you

i am in need of an a/c pressure switch for my 74 with factory air. If you have happen to have or know of a 74 parts car hanging about, it looks like an aluminum cylinder, approx 1" in diameter and 1" long, with a two-wire pigtail attached to it. The switch threads into the top of the receiver/drier which is located aft of the voltage regulator and shunt. the one in the photo is missing its wires. thanks for your help, tony

Seeing how much I have enjoyed reading other threads of this nature I have decided to start my own. I always document my work with lots of pictures and hopefully I can help other members who are tackling some of the same projects on their Z. It is going to take me a little while to get everything on here to reflect where I am truly at on the car so please bear with me. All comments and questions are welcome! The Search and the Purchase I have always been a fan of the Datsun Z cars. Having owned two 300ZX’s and two ’77 280Z’s I had always wanted a 240Z. I can remember the days of finding a clean rust free 240Z for between $4,000 and $7,000 was common place. H…

Removed the condenser, compressor, etc, some time ago and just cut the lines leading into the cabin. This weekend I finally ripped out the evaporator. Was dealer-installed. You pay shipping and it's yours. Additional question: Was there some sort of block-off plate for the air inlet to the blower motor if A/C wasn't present? For the life of me I can't find the parts diagram that shows the A/C system...

A few pics I snapped of interesting drawings I saw in books when in Japan. Interesting that the front wheels are wider apart than the rear. 1969 S30 and S30S dimensions 1971 S30 and S30S dimensions 1971 HS30 dimensions

Anyone out there have a good copy of the "Section EF, Fuel System" of the 260z FSM? I need to sort out all of fuel, vacuum, and emissions lines, and the pdf on xenon is too blurry to be usable.
