I want to use a tow dolly to move a rolling 73 240Z parts car with relatively little structure rust about 20 miles. The car has no engine and the driveshaft and transmission are out. With the car not running how do I get the car up on the dolly? Can I use a come along? Can I jack it up and put it on two jack stands behind the front wheels on the tension control rod mounts and back the dolly underneath the front wheels that way? I wonder if the jack stands would get in the way of the dolly if I do that. I have read other threads and info on the net, no one says how you do this so it must be either really easy or impossible. There is no bumper so I can't use a tow ba…

Just bought a 78 280z, I am fairly new to the Z car world, i plan on fixing her up while i am going to college. i want to take her back to almost completely original. the only thing i want to put in that isnt is a new radio but i will be putting in a retro sound so it will still have the original look. for the most part everything that needs to be worked on is cosmetic. there is an after market sunroof that needs to go, it has a damaged rear quarter panel that needs to be either pounded out or replaced, it needs a new intior, the rust needs to be taken care of and needs a paint job once everything is done. right now i am trying to out if the wheels on it are the stock whe…

Anybody with this fuel tweak found a timing degree that is better than 10 BTDC? I'm thinking of trying 15 but I don't really know what "Pinging" is. I guess it's a noise that's noticeable? Thanks for any advice.

Hi guys, new to the forum. I've been on the lookout for a s30 for some time now. I recently found a 78 280z that hasn't ran in about 10 years. I'm hoping to buy the car and turn it into a project / daily driver. One main concern than my fiancé and I have is the safety of the vehicle once we're able to get it on the road. So my question to you guys is in the event of an accident how likely are we to survive in these cars? I'm mainly looking for personal experiences from owners. Any information would help! Thanks!!!

Please vote for my car. My 71 240Z is in the running to be in a classic car calendar. If I win, I think I'll be the first, "non American Muscle Car" in this calendar. I'm car #10. But that's kind of obvious though. Thanks! http://www.2dorks.com/2013_car_vote.html

Hello all. After selling my May, 1970-build 240Z that I owned for 27 years some years ago, and of course regretting it, I have bought a January 1970-build car. Unfortunately it's not as nice as my previous one, but it's unrusty, mostly complete, and well worth saving. The biggest problem is that it has received the chrome-delete treatment and has some other non-original changes, mostly minor. My goal is to take it back to all-original. I have bought a bunch of parts that I need, but I still need more. I'm not sure how to go about this, so I'll just ask some questions and people can set me right if I do the wrong thing here. The car was lowered with replacement springs an…

Got wind of this forum from a family member, and I figured the more help I can get the better. I'm new to the idea of working on a car, but I'm a fast learner and its always something I wanted to do, so I decided to start with what I thought was an easier project. Its not quite how it was described in the ad, but its my start. Everything looks top notch until you look under it and in places like door jams. Nice paintjob when doors are closed but bad quality in the door receces' under hood etc. I need to get it up on a lift to look under it as there looks to be some rust starting, but I still see unmolested metal in a large portion of the car on cursory glace, so ho…

If there's anything I've learned from restoring Z's, it's that Nissan doesn't seem to support it. Parts that the community needs for Nissan's most famous cars are simply not there. I haven't been able to ignore the fact that American companies have sold the original molds and rights to manufacturers of new parts, and I've been wondering where that same level of action is with the Japanese companies, specifically Nissan. I'd like to think that Nissan has the moulds stored away somewhere, it's just a matter of knowing what they intend to do with them, sell them, start using them, etc. The experience I've had with aftermarket panels is rather rough to say the least, and it'd…
