I'm looking at what's purported to be a 1978 280 Z 2+2 turbo with VIN HGS130-1130XX. However, I can't find any data based on the early VIN's only having 12-digits rather than the newer 15-digit numbering. How might I chase this care down based on her VIN? Secondly, in 1970, I bought a butterscotch 240Z in East Corinth, Maine and lowered the suspension, installed a 5-speed tranny and limited slip diff for auto-crossing along with home-made rear window louvre. I recall her VIN was HLS30-12015 or 17. I sold her in Denver in 1972 when we had children. Any suggestions how I might find out who currently owns my old 'Z'? I stopped by a "Z" club event in Mt. Dora, Florida last fa…

I was applying for personalized plates and am pushing the edge with acceptable (and politically correct). Got to wondering what plates any of you have on your car(s)? My 57 Volvo has VIAGRA and has had that plate for 20 years. At the time it was the only plate in existance with that name as the other states considered it sexually explisive. It all started when I told someone it was like viagra because I got a a woody when I drove it. The plate for the new subaru is NOTALES and I will let you all figure that one out.

I am trying to help out a client of mine that I did some partial restoration for. He is selling his 8/71 240z because he doesn't have time to finish or enjoy his car. This is a California/Texas 98% rust free car. When he brought it to me it had been sitting for 18 years unregistered. He would turn the motor over periodically, but it was just sitting in storage and at his home under a car port for a long time. When he brought to me it needed help, but was still very nice rust free car. It had a lot of dings from being at a home with 8 kids and being a 40 year old car. He wanted me to get it running and looking nice so he could enjoy it. I put a lot of time and money int…

Hello, I pulled the 5 mile-an-hour bumpers from my 1975 280z and mounting hardware. I don't want them. I'm not familiar with the market. Are these worth trying to sell or just trash them? Thanks! Robert

Lads This past weekend I did an oil change as well as run about 1/3 of a can of seafoam through the intake - smoked like an old ocean liner. Anyhow since then I've been hearing this odd BUZZ everytime I shift above 3k. It does it on deceleration only and only when the car is at temperature. Any ideas? Car doesn't seem to be running any worse. No coolant in oil or vise versa. Thanks Jan

Good evening everyone, I was hoping to get some opinions from the members of the group. I am redoing a 1973 240z, that currently has an add on AC system, similar to the dealer installed units, except with a Sanden 134R compressor. My question is should I leave it in place , or remove it and weld up the holes? I currently have the engine out and the engine compartment stripped, in preparation to repaint, so this is the time to do it. Do you guys feel the AC adds or detracts from the value of the car? I seldom use AC, even in my daily driver, so for me it is of little value, but it may be of value to the next owner, I'm just not sure, so I am asking the experts. If it was y…

Hope I am not out of line but yesterday I while picking up some parts I saw this gentleman's 1973 240z he has for sale and is posted in ZCar.com. It is currently in a rolling chassis state but is in great shape. From what he told me The car is in Lindehurst IL. If I didn't already have two Z's to be working on I would buy this. newtonhubcap

With the various threads of what else is in your garage to other cars you are working on I wanted to start a thread on what are members on the look out for. Who knows, maybe one of us knows where such a vehicle is that a member is looking for and would be able to put the member and owner together to strike a deal. Looks like a lot of us have a second or third project going in addition to our Z or Z's. I have seen BMW's, Porsche's, various American muscle cars, and old motorcycles just to name a few. So, what are you on the look out for?

Last fall I brought a 72 home to strip. My grandson hopped in and declared the passenger set was his. He said that it was the most comfortable seat he had ever sat in:love: (in his 5 years of life). I decided to make him a desk chair and we finished it today.

Hey guys, I suspect this should be on classifieds but that place and I don't get along, plus, I have to be rid of this in a few days and who knows if anyone with interest would see it by then. I have a 71 240 rolling shell, serial 21xxx, with title that is mostly a rolling shell. From the center of the car back it is very sound. From there forward, it is largely metal cheese cloth. I am going to take it to the scrap yard this week, but on the outside chance someone needs the rear of the car, I could save it. Getting it to you of course is the big issue. I hate to see it crushed, someone out there is in dire need of a quarter panel or the rear panel or ?? Any thou…
