Ok, What did I do wrong? A couple months ago I replaced the clutch, put a brand new rear main seal in as preventative maintenance at the same time. The old one wasn't even leaking. How it appears that I have oil seeping down between the aluminum bell housing shield plate, and the block right behind the oil pan. It's a slight possibility that my oil pan gasket is leaking on the back edge, but I don't think so. The oil is running down that back corner and dripping off the bottom of the tranny. The old gasket I pried out with a screwdriver. The new seal I lined up and gently walked it around with a socket extension and tapping. It does leak just sitting still, but I don…

Hi guys - I'm pretty new around here. Looks like a pretty cool forum! I've got a set of Carroll Shelby rims and I can't find any information on them! Does anyone here know anything about these things? What they are worth? Are they decent rims? etc. etc. Thanks!

A little background on me before you think I'm crazy... I've been a pilot since the age of 16. So from an early age the use of check lists has been instituted into anything that I do that is of importance. I've also built and test flown my own (as well as others) aircraft. So developing check-lists and test cards is just something that I do. For example I have an extensive check list for the annual condition inspection on my aircraft. I find it useful and it gives me piece of mind knowing that I haven't forgotten anything. So with that information, I've put together a little engine check list for a tune-up on the 240Z engine. I figured that it might be of use to others …

I saw this at The Truth About Cars: Junkyard Find: 1973 Datsun 240Z | The Truth About Cars. Does anybody know what junkyards Murilee Martin visits? If it hasn't already been picked clean, there are a lot of good parts to be had.

We went to the Tennessee line yesterday, enjoying the sunny weather. My dog loves to ride in the back so she climbed back there and took a nap. It was almost "The Big Nap". Cold weather had the windows up and the fumes got to her after a couple of hours. When I stopped to let her use the bathroom she was slow to get out and when she did she was as high as a kite, not from me it was the fumes, walking sideways and acting lethargic. Gotta remember to crack a window.

whenever it gets to over the low 70s and I spend any time in traffic my Z starts cutting out something awful. It isn't so much a sputtering as it is half seconds of no power at all. No real coughing just jerking along where it pulls then doesn't for a second or less then pulls again for a second or two and then repeats. It will rev freely if it isn't in gear but as soon as I put a load on it it goes back to the cutting out. Generally once I get out of traffic and start moving again it goes back more to normal. It will idle pretty much normally at that time too. It slows a bit like it is bogged down if it sits idling at a light for too long but doesn't cough or sputt…

I have owned one original '70 Z car about 15 years ago. Now, I've been searching for a while for another early Z for keeps, so if anybody knows of a good car out there for sale that won't cost a small fortune, please let me know. I, like many others, share the belief that the early Z is a great car and was beautifully designed. So, my question is, why are so many of these cars modified in a way that is described as "molestation" and what modification is considered a "molestation" of the early Z car? Before I get into this discussion, I want to make it clear that I understand what may be described as, the need for 'personalization/personal taste', the need to express 'ind…
