Thanks for all the info on this site, it has been of great value and assistance through this project. I bought this car as a '73 with a suppsoed 24,000 original miles, and rapidly found out that was absolutely not the case, yes, I'm sure you're as shocked as I was. Anyway I could not leave it alone so I built the car I wanted to. I'm happy how it turned out. Here is a shot when I bought the car. Pretty, eh?

Alright guys, I hope i don't make anyone mad by posting this here but.... I have an all stock 1978 280Z I've gone through the trouble of buying a new air flow meter for it, and all new injectors along with all new ignition parts except the dist. I kind of want to sell her and just buy one again later on. I'm not sure how much to ask for the car to be honest. The mileage is what i would guess to be 128xxx with less than 200 miles on new injectors. All that needs done is body work and proper floor pans. I really wanna sell it to someone who will take care of it and not trash it, I just bought a truck and I figured instead of having both I will just use the truck and save up…

I'm looking for a relatively minor part for my 75Z. I'm looking for a windshield washer bottle lid, mine is toast. I've tried several "universal" lids with no luck, none fit just right. My washer jug is fine, just no usable lid, so I don't really want to spend the $ for a whole new unit. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I changed the oil in my '87 Hardbody this weekend and have used a Fram Tough Guard filter from Walmart with that rubber flap that keeps the oil from running back through the filter to the pan. They weren't in stock and I wound up buying one from Advance AP without that flap. At start up this morning I heard that old familiar sound again, a short "clackity clacking", valves I suppose. It has 300,000 miles on it and I'm waiting on it to finally quit running before I tear it apart. I didn't put a lot of thought in those flapped filters, kind of a sales pitch thing to me, but I do now! Makes a difference on my truck on cold starts.

Just received my reproduction washer bottle complete with all the original markings, sticker and motor. It is 100% as the original for half the price that the NOS are selling for. I could not be happier. jlp

I dug up some pictures I took 15 years ago at the Dallas Autorama. Digital cameras sure have improved since then... Dallas Autorama 1998 | Fiddling With Z Cars So, can any current ZCOT members identify people/cars from the pictures? Edit: When I originally posted this, I forgot that I had a couple of pictures of a 72 that Courtesy Nissan was selling as part of the refresh program. Those pictures are part of the blog post now, too.

Saw this on a nearby CL in northern Idaho. Don't know the owner or the car but sure looks like a nice car. Nissian/Datsun 240z 1972

I was curious if you guys could tell me if these parts are worth be trying to sell/swap or just get rid of. I don't know much about whats what for this stuff. I do know that there are random engine parts and belts (which I'm assuming most people can get new online vs old ones) plus some interior things. Once again though, they came inside my car and I assume they are worthless or could be used as my own "back up" if something breaks and I need a quick fix. Thanks for the help everyone

The saying, "If it ain't broken, don't fix it" has been on my mind lately. You pull apart one thing to fix/replace and see 3 other things that could be replaced as you're already this far in dismantling things. Those other 3 things may not even NEED to be replaced yet but it's going to be so much work in the future when you do need to do them so you might as well do it now. I can't be the only one feeling this with our old cars. How do you guys deal with this? Ignore things until they need to be done? One thing at a time? All or nothing? Wait for available funds?

I bought what I think was a really nice 75 280 last year. A represented 39K mile, nearly original, nice car. After climbing all through it, I believe that it is a real 39K mile car, but who knows, after 10 years, it's exempt on miles in Texas anyway. It has been painted, but the work was done very well and it has absolutely zero rust, or prior rust repair. It had what I think were some old Panasport knockoffs, fronts were 14x6, rears 14x7, taller tires on the rear, looked like hammered crap. Seller said they were Panasports, had the blue Panasport center caps, at least 3 of them did, the 4th the same blue raised decal but was a different cap, held in the wheel with d…
