I used some cheap clear coat on my shields and the heat has turned them yellowy. I got the bolts out but can't maneuver it out. Anyone know a trick? It looks like I could remove the throttle body and it would come out or take the intake off. Any other ideas or experiences would be appreciated. Thanks for any help.

Hey everyone. I'm brand new here, and just got my early '73 240z on July 20th. Its my very first car, and I love it. But there are a few things that need work, or I don't totally understand. I'm 19, which means this car is over twice as old as me, and naturally I have some questions about it. I'm hoping this thread can document my experience with this car, and answer my questions. But without further adieu, here are a few pictures. My first question is: What are these two little toggle switches on the center console? Also, feel more than free to ask me anything about this car, and I'll answer to the best of my knowledge.

OK. My totaled '71 is finally up on the Cranky Ape web site. http://www.crankyape.com/default.asp?pg=DisItems&Cat=11&locID=18 It obviously doesn't run, but has a wealth of parts. There is a Crane cam in the head; The motor is out of a '72 and was rebuilt about 45,000 miles ago. Dash is mint; was recovered back in '92 and has NO cracks or blemishes. All gauges work, incl. the clock. Relays installed for the H/L's and fog lights. Crane XR-7000 electronic ignition. Taillights have been refurbished and are like new. Hatch is an original series 1, with the vents. (car was built in 2/71, so they were using leftover parts) There is no rust on any body panel. The e…

My 280z ac condenser is black, but a lot of the paint has chipped off with time. Can I LIGHTLY media blast the condenser and repaint it? If read this affects cooling. Would you use normal paint?

I found a '76 280z at the p-n-p in Grand Junction, Co and scored some sweet parts. I got a near perfect hood and rear hatch with absolutely no rust or dents. I also was able to get all the interior plastic panels, all the interior vinyl, visors and rear view mirror. The interior parts have no cracks or scuff marks at all. I also snagged the tool hatch lids and found a complete tool kit with jack. I even was able to get the front inner fender liners. All this for $90!! The guy is going to hold onto the car until I can get back next week and get the 5speed and any other parts that are good. Made for a great weekend.

Well after a few months of owning my Z i am happy with my purchase she was only $900. But there have been issues with the EFI as much as I would love to keep this thing all original I think it might just be better for me to replace it with something "fresher" from the nissan engine line up. So I am wondering how much can i sell my 1978 280Z engine for with the 5 speed tranny? I would hate to just let it sit and go to waste or have it junked i dont think i could do that. The problems are that it runs rich and i believe the piston rings will need to be changed, (that is why i am thinking of just doing an engine swap) I know that the swap is a a few months away at least. I a…

So I just flew across the country and when I landed, I got a very interesting text from the wife. She caught a peek at a like green A hiding in a neighbor's garage. And she was gracious enough to go check it out for me. Turns out it's a one owner, 72, with only 30,000 miles. She tells me it's impeccable inside and out. Even smells like new inside! I'll follow up with more details when I get home next weekend. She texted me some pictures which will have to wait till I get to my room.

Good news for California Z owners who want to run period correct license plates on their early Zs. As Reported By SEMA: California Bill to Create Legacy License Plate Program Signed Into Law Governor Jerry Brown signed into law legislation (A.B. 1658) to establish the California Legacy License Plate Program. Under the new law, the DMV will create and issue a series of specialized license plates that replicate plates from the state's past.* Previously, classic car owners could only revive well-maintained old plates that match the vintage of their vehicle.* Among other things, the new law will bring a retro look to modern license plates by allowing consumers to choose from …

Was going through some of my Z stuff today in preparation to sell her, and I found the original warranty card and booklet. It's in amazing condition. Also took some pics of the various papers, magazines and books that'll be included in the sale.
