Good news for California Z owners who want to run period correct license plates on their early Zs. As Reported By SEMA: California Bill to Create Legacy License Plate Program Signed Into Law Governor Jerry Brown signed into law legislation (A.B. 1658) to establish the California Legacy License Plate Program. Under the new law, the DMV will create and issue a series of specialized license plates that replicate plates from the state's past.* Previously, classic car owners could only revive well-maintained old plates that match the vintage of their vehicle.* Among other things, the new law will bring a retro look to modern license plates by allowing consumers to choose from …

Was going through some of my Z stuff today in preparation to sell her, and I found the original warranty card and booklet. It's in amazing condition. Also took some pics of the various papers, magazines and books that'll be included in the sale.

I seemed to have misplaced the 2 bolts that fasten the rear license plate to the back of my '71 240Z. I've tried some odd spare bolts and some are close but are not quite the right size. Does anyone know the correct diameter & length of the bolt? Thanks in advance. Steve

Here in Salt Lake, our first snowfall is usually a the end of October - Which I'm really not excited for. I know Z's aren't great winter drivers, just being rear wheel and rust prone. My question is basically, what needs to be done to have the car safe for winter. Where I'm living now doesn't have a garage or even covered parking, so I should probably invest in a cover to keep water from getting places and freezing there. And I also assume I should eliminate and rust proof it as best I can, any other suggestions for maintaining it? The previous owner didn't drive it in the snow or rain, so I really don't know how its gonna do.

I've been a huge fan of the classic Z for many years, and Im more or less ready to pull the trigger on one now. Im looking at a '71 advertised good condition, relatively fresh paint, and a 3.2L Rebello engine. I've yet to go see it, but Im trying to do my research now to know what to look out for. Im thinking that mechanically I'll have a good feel after driving it.. however, I don't know what kind of power to expect from it (at all) so I may do a compression test to ensure the motor is good (supposedly only a few thousand miles old) and perhaps even asking the owner if he'd be willing to let it go on a dyno before finalizing the sale. Is that reasonable? Aside from engi…

Drove the Z today to meet a former co-worker for lunch, and while on highway 92 saw a green 510 with a white racing stripe. I speed-up to pull along side and we both gave each other a thumbs-up. Last weekend I saw a early 70's Datsun pick-up at home depot. Driver was retiered and is the original owner, and it's still driven daily. About three weeks ago, I spotted a series one 240Z parked on the street at an apartment complex about 2 blocks from my home. Left a message on his windshield, last week, but so far no word. Nice to see other datsuns on the road!

What are the hardest to find / most expensive S30 small replacement parts? Just from browsing the forum I see that the chrome tail light bezels are hard to come by. Anyone care to list some other small parts? Thanks

This arrived last week from Long Island, NY. Bought it off of ebay. 1996 Mini re-titled as a 1976. Japanese market model with factory A/C. 45,000km. Walnut dash and walnut on tops of doors and quarter window. Brown leather with green piping that matches the paint. Xenon headlamps. RHD. Definitely a head turner.

I have been trying to figure out the name of the Datsun dealer where my car was originally purchased. I know it was in California, and I have the attached warranty card that was filled out by the original owner, but the handwriting is not great, and I don't have enough familiarity with the names of the dealers around this time to trigger any thoughts. Does anyone have a list of the Datsun dealers that were operating in California in the early 1970s? I believe that this car was purchased in either the Bay Area or somewhere in Northern California. It is a late 1971 240z. If you could also help me with the address of the dealer, that would be great too. Thanks for a…

Here is a badge that I recently got. I have never seen one like it. I know they made them for the 510 but not the 240Z. Here is it mounted on my grill.
