I have a 74 260z and at high speeds (70mph) it cuts out or when you give it full throttle. Ive learned that one of the owners prior to me put a 70, 71, or 72 fuel rail on it and eliminated alot of the emissions parts. i attached a picture and you can kind of see what im talking about. it would help alot if i knew where the vacuum lines went originally. http://s1002.photobucket.com/albums/af141/searsscreamer/?action=view¤t=IMAG0936.jpg

I'm seriously pondering selling my one Z, its the newset Z to me but i'm really thinking about it. Its a 73, with round top Su's with a Reman L-28 block. Car runs phenominal, a little hard starting but they all seem to be a little. The car is in good shape. Needs some body work, some of the paint is starting to bubble on the bottom of the doors but over all in good shape. My issue is I keep seeing all these super super clean cars and I keep striving for it but i'll never get there unless I do a total restoration. The car didn't set me back a whole lot. I have a turbo motor i was planning to swap in but i'd like a cleaner car for the swap. I'm not sure which route t…

My wife gave me the Hero2 HD camera for our anniversary. I went out to do a walk around of the 240Z, and produced this little video. Great camera. I can't wait to make some driving videos!

I recently replaced the rod bearings in my 76 280Z with stock bearings. I would have done the mains but there were none to be found. An online mechanic friend of mine said I should have used over sized bearings because the engine is nearing 200K. Frankly I am confused about the difference between over and under sized bearings but what I have read said these bearings should only be used after the crank has been turned. What are your suggestions for me? Chris

Here we go again with fuel prices going way up! I currently burn 91 octane (Nissan recommended) in my 77. But, with prices topping $5 a gallon supposedly soon that will be expensive. So, what do you feed your Z's tank with? I'm thinking maybe dropping to a lower octane and adding a fuel additive every other tank. Anyone burn lower octane without issues?

The gas tank's coming out for a clean-up so I checked the expansion/evap tank, the hoses were kinked or otherwise bad except a big new braided one the PO put out some bucks for but didn't bother to clamp. Anyway I want to keep the evap tank but upgrade the tank venting. Don't like the lil line going to the flow valve - if it's working it needs some vac before it pulls air. It's not venting - there's a big difference (watching clear fuel filter) when the gas cap's on or off. Have 73 with early SU's and K&N's. Can I just hook up the lil tank per stock (good references in these forums) except take the top air intake line (with a small filter) somewhere else? Where would…

Not much left of my parts Z.Most of it is boxed, bagged, and tagged. only the front suspension and rear 1/4's left. My question, are the 1/4's worth saving? The PO had extensive body work done, and they are in great condition, no rust, no dents. If I were to save them where should i cut? Someone Need them? John

Hi guys. Need a second opinion on this. Here's the story: When my '72 was repainted in the late '70s, the engine bay was (sadly) blacked out. In the process, the ID plate that lives on the pass. strut tower just above the voltage regulator was painted over (which explains why I hadn't noticed it before now). Sunday night I removed it and scraped as much paint off it as I was willing to (will do the whole thing eventually). The block number stamped into it reads 110555: The number on the block itself, however, is 118555: I'd originally thought it was some kind of typo. My dad is the car's original owner, it's always been in the family, and he swears up and dow…

I was looking today for parts for my 914 and came across HLS3017369 in a local junk yard. It had a some niggling little interior screws and such that I needed, but I also grabbed the aftermarket front and rear swaybars and blue (Suspension Techniques?) springs all the way around. Just for giggles, I grabbed the SU's and manifold as well as the aftermarket headers. I didn't take it, but the exhaust from the header back was new... I don't need any of this stuff but it seemed too good to risk it going to the crusher with the car. Oh! It has a Series I rear hatch with the vertical defroster stripes and vents. I wasn't aware that these went this deep into the VIN#'s? On 914Wo…
