Mike mentioned in a different post about adding ads for fundraising. I suppose it is inevitable but he mentioned money out of his pocket too. I have projects I support out of love for the project, and perhaps this is Mike's, but there must be a way we can help out with a semi annual or ?? fundraising project. Any thoughts? I was thinking like a charity auction, those of us that can could donate an item, Z related or not, to a silent auction and the proceeds could go to the upkeep of the site. Donating person could submit a pic and arrange shipping, buyer could pay shipping from donator's address. Items could be anything from misc parts to non related but interestin…

I need the passenger-side black plastic air duct that mounts in the corner next to the radiator for a '73 240z. If you have one that you'd be willing to part with, please PM me. As long as it's not melted or badly cracked, I'd definitely be interested. Thanks!

Gentleman: Unfortunately I need to sell my 76 280 Z. It's been mostly dormant the past year as other things have taken a priority. It's a 76 280Z with SU roundtops from a 72 240Z. It has a 5-speed transmission from a 77 280Z rebuilt in 2004. It runs well with the exception that it stalls every now and again ( I gave up try to diagnose the problem as I had little time to deal with the car). The fuel tank has been treated with Por-15 and all the fuel hoses have been replaced. It used to be a daily driver and has been kept mostly stock. The big concern in selling this thing is the SU's that have replaced the Fuel injection. It obviously won't pass smog as is and I'm not in…

I have a choice to make here and need advice. I have a spare fender that is stripped of paint and rust free, but has a bunch of small dents in a few key places. It would take a bit of filler and alot of work to get them right. I have my orignal fender that is rusted through in the normal place, at the bottom where it attaches to the structual support. I also have the Tabco patch pannel that is not the same thickness as the orignal fender. So what way should I go about repairing this, I was thinking of these ideas. 1) cut the spare fender and weld it in place, using only the smallest amount needed. 2) Keep the spare whole, fix it and use it. 3) Keep the spare whole (what i…

SO I been doing some experimenting with hoses trying to find a way to get the braided look on hoses not made anymore like the manifold coolant "S" hose on the 72 and a few other models... So I did this!...... I found a old hose that seemed the braid was beginning to delaminate from the rubber so i helped it out.. The pics should say all.... At the end, I just glued the ends to the new hose and it seems to be working! What do you think? Polecat

Last month I went to my local Courthouse to get the Z tags renewed and was wondering what others in other States pay to have their Z-cars tagged and registered. In Kansas the vehicle has to be 35 years old to be antique, no classic or historical, regular or antique only. They issue an antique plate, white with blue lettering and a number, like 128463, (boring) or a year of manufacture plate, this option is my favorite, you don't have to ask 'what year is this?' The first year mine was registered I had a 73 'KMB 14' plate (at one time this plate was on the 69 Buick that put me in the hospital for 4 1/2 months, center punched it on a Harley, when it became known to me…

A guy about 30 miles from where I live just agreed to sell me his 10th Anniversary 280ZX. Only 2500 were made gold and black, and 500 red and black. It isn't the super rare red/black, but the guy is selling it to me for a reasonable price. It needs a complete restore of the interior, and it will need some minor body work. I'll get pictures up here shortly, for now, I'll just pilfer one from http://www.zhome.com/History/10thAnniv.htm.

I'm new to this forum and I'm not currently a Z-Car owner. However, I've previously owned a '71 240Z and a '77 280Z when each of them was new. Yeah, I'm that old. I loved my 240Z but was always disappointed in the 280Z. Although the power increase from 150 to 170 with the addition of displacement and fuel injection was great and the 5-speed tranny was a welcome addition to the 280Z, the car was heavy and clumsy. I'm now thinking about getting a First Generation Z-Car ('70-72 240 or '77-78 280) but have some basic questions for which I can't find answers. Before anyone suggests running a Forum search, I've tried it but couldn't find the right questions or answers for m…

Would you do it? If so, how far would you take it? Still in the process of getting my Z running, but thinking ahead to the eventual body restoration, and which badges I'll reinstall after the paintwork is done. - The front roundel's definitely going back on. - I like the fender "Datsun" badges because they provide a visual "reference point" for the lower part of the fender. - The "Z" vents in the C-pillars will stay. They're alright. - The hatch I'm not so sure. I like identifying the car as a 240 beyond just the bumpers, but it just seems kind of busy and fussy. I might leave that off.
