Hi Gents, I was ten yrs old when the 240Z came out and I wanted one so bad. Fast forward, I just bought a 1970 240Z HLS30-01955 not perfect but a Very good driver. No rust, oiled every year, came with a file folder 4" thick with documentation back to the original owner. Lots of upgrades but none that are irreversible. It took me a bit less than a year to find one worth buying and man did I look at a lot of rust buckets in that time. ( I have fixed lots of rust before on other cars but it does get tiresome after a while) So I have been hunting through the archives of this incredible site and finding answers and options. Not really sure what I'm going to do with it. I tho…

Has anyone heard of Tank Tech coatings for fuel tanks? I searched for them and only found a commercial tank servicing company. Anywho, The Rad Shop that I am thinking about sending my fuel tank to uses this coating - so I am looking for any other Zed-Heads who have used this material (Zedyone excluded ). Thanks in advance...

I know it isn't customary for a person to re-wed so soon after losing a loved one, but I found and bought yesterday a pristine '71 (10/70). Pics will be put up soon. These next 10 days are very busy for me, that's why the delay. Some details: Completely disassembled down to the last nut and bolt and media blasted. Any rust issues resolved. Undercarriage powder coated. Complete repaint. New engine rebuilt (not matching numbers) w/zero miles (original engine tossed #6 rod through the block after an accidental overrev). Stock suspension. 4-speed. White/turquoise. The underside is almost as clean as the topside. Besides, the wife likes it. What more could a boy desire???

Good morning all, I am on my way to Oklahoma tommorrow and on my return trip I have the opportunity to pick up a complete 77 L28 engine with 44,000 miles on it for "free" in Sioux Falls. I tried searching advantages of the F54 over the N42 block. All I know is the F54 net HP was 145 ponies compared to the 135 ponies of the N42. The F54 also has the siamese cylinders where the P30 and N42 blocks were not and had coolant flow between cylinders. My intent is not to build a radical powerhouse but would like to build a block that will be stout when you stomp on it for autocrossing and Z-speed fun and have compression in the 9.0-9.5:1 range. I have two E31 heads but would keep …

Disaster stuck this morning. The pretty gold 1970 Z was totaled in an accident. I'm fine, no major injuries, just pissed to the bone.

My May 1971 240Z came with the early console and "A" tranny, vertical defrost but no tailgate vents. I have the early angular half shafts and straight mustache bar and short (early) driveshaft. The hole for the shifter is the early opening. I don't have the 240Z on the pillars. The steering wheel is the late type with holes. The engine came with the early E31 head. The tool compartments are late type in the back with metal door hatches. Many have told me this is a transition Z. Carl says January 1971 was the last Series I month, but what would you call this car.....Series I or Series II? It certainly has a Series I drive train, the body is half I and half II. Someone pleas…

I purchased this 1972 240z from a seller off Craigslist. Due to the distance being 300 miles away I opted to have it shipped. Based on the few pictures the seller gave me and the info they provided I rolled the dice and bought it sight unseen. For the most part it is everything the seller described. It has a little more rust on it that I anticipated but for what I got the car for and what has already been done to it I am still happy. According to the seller the engine is from a '78 280Z and the transmission and rear end are from a 280ZX. I have verifed the block is a L28, it has an N47 head, and it has an E88 intake. As you can see in the pics it has some rust on t…

Yesterday I got the dash and wiring harness back in. Ive got one small leak from a brake line at the master cylinder I need to fix. I noticed the front clip is bent a little bit but dont think it will be noticable when put back together. The radiator still fits ok, so I will have to leave it for now. The wiring part isnt as bad as people think. Most of the plugs are self explanatory and the rest is fairly easy to see where they went. My wires were all labeled but most big plugs probably didnt need to be. Im getting ready to paint the block and put everything back on it so I can put it back in. Hopefully that will be done in next couple weeks or so. Brian

I remember this car from a few months ago. I guess he's going to pass it on. http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/2910508426.html If I had the extra garage space and could get a deal I'd go out on a limb and buy it. Looks ok I guess?
