Hi All This thread is a continuation of the raised cast numbering and lettering on the engine blocks of the 240z engines. Once I read that thread with input from various members on here from around the world I thought I would look at the Australian delivered cars and what I have found may be of interest. It also allows me to narrow down the approximate build date of the Australian 240z's, as only the build plate was attached at the factory at the time of manufacture. We attached our own compliance plates when they landed and sold in Australia. Not only can I concur with what was in the engine block thread, I have found other dates stamped on petrol tanks and stickers stuc…

What defines a 240Z as a classic? I do call the 240Z a classic. People still respond to it when they see it-when you drive through town or anywhere don't you get the same smiles, nods, and wave-downs to talk that I do? We have an Australian teenager in the club who is just as much in love with the cars as those of us who lusted after them when they first came out-all of this is eveidence of a true and timeless classic! But what really makes the car a classic? In July of 2003, Classic Motorsports magazine Interviewed 11 highly visible and respected car enthusiasts and could not get a clear answer, but none of those interviewed mentioned a Zcar-though other similarly p…

Hey men and women. My name's Jared, and I'm a new member. I hope you enjoy my story and my resto/mod. Don't cringe (if you're the kind that cringes at restoMODDED 240Z's. It's not that bad (I don't think! This is my 14th S30 Z. I love these cars. I never could afford to keep one long (I bought most of them in 'not running' condition, made them run well, and sold them at a small profit. Now, I can afford to keep one, so I wanted to build one that I would WANT to keep forever. I looked for a year or so for this car. I wanted a lime pre-73 240Z with a manual. I wanted it to be a pretty straight and solid car. I found one in October 2007. Since then, the car has undergone …

Just saw these today. I picked up the short drive shaft off the 71 and took a look at the 72. The 72 has all of the gauges and a couple of intake manifolds scattered around inside, and what is probably the original L24 engine in the engine bay. The 71 has the speedo and tach left, the taillights (one cracked), a 4 speed and a 280Z L28 engine (sans head). They both have a lot of trim pieces left, the 72 seemed to have a fairly decent drivers seat also. Overall though, pretty trashed. The 72 has an intact sunroof also. Didn't see any broken glass on either, but couldn't gauge quality through the moss. For any one looking for 240Z parts - http://www.picknpull.com/chec…

Watching this travesty. I am getting physically ill. These clowns have absolutely NO RESPECT for the Z. They should have used a K-car. I just wonder what they do with all the parts they stripped off.

Saw this while searching and thought the community would like to know about it. Needs a hood and some interior attention, seems like a project you could drive and restore. No comments on rust or other condition. http://www.carsonlinefree.com/sites/inventoryDetails.cfm?dealerID=2407&vid=245809&searchTerm=all&sortBy=makeA&startRow=1

I just came across this online 240Z/260Z/280Z parts catalogs on a site called carpartsmanual.com. Here is the link http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsuns30/DatsunFairladyZIndex/tabid/1543/Default.aspx. Oddly enough, it looks like they only have Datsun catalogs available right now. In addition to the S30, they also have catalogs for the 311, 520, and 510. Seems like a good resource for when you don't have the club CD or a hard copy version handy. -Mike

I am sure this has been discussed before, but my searches keep coming up empty. Where are people finding Nissan part numbers? I can't seem to find a fiche anywhere. Atlantic's FAST software does not work on my windows 7 machine. This is becoming frustrating, and I don't whant to keep asking the board for every single part I need to research. Any ideas?

I'm rebuilding my 240Z to send to my brother overseas in Norway. He's not exactly mechanically inclined, so the point is to have everything as little problematic as possible. Generally speaking, I've used Nissan parts for replacement, but I can't get a heater core from the factory any more. Knowing what a hassle it is to get to, I really don't want to have trouble with it. I'm after a quality product. Since it's going overseas, any warranty is pretty much useless. So far in my searching I've found: $56 from Amazon $114 from Napa online $299 from MSA I won't say cost is no object, and I'm willing to pay a bit for quality, but what I see is a very wide range for presu…

I need to see a pic that shows how the door lock rod on the outer door handle attaches to the door lock mech. I found a thread with this exact question and pic but the pic was gone because the thread was from 2008 and the FSM shows a black and wite taken apart diagram. I am interested is seeing if the plastic adjusting nut goes over or under the latch on the mech where it attaches. if it goes under it holds itself in place but if it goes ontop I will need to use a nut to secure it
