I took the barn find out for about a 100 mile rip through the foothill twistys today. First time I've taken it more than just around town since putting on the new head. It runs and handles awesome. Love this car! Thought I'd share a few pics.

Morrning all, I have 4 sets of aluminum rims (snow-flake, and era correct 5-slot) I am getting ready to pull down from rafters and clean and prep to restore. I did some searching onsite and did not come up with any discussion of refinishing the rims but to seal them in a clear powder-coating coating? Will take the rims in to be hot -tank washed to remove all road grime and grease, sand, then polish rims, then seal in a clear powder-coat finish? My question, am I off my rocker for using powder coatings or go with the available products like dupli-color or Eastwood? Enjoy your weekend! Newtonhubcap

I was doing a ground up restoration on my '73 240Z and just don't have time to work on it. I have a job that often has me working nights and weekends and even if I spent every day off that I had it would literally take me years to finish this project. Pick N' Pull will come and take the body away for me and give me $200 for it but I would hate for another 240Z to go to the crusher. I would rather give it away to someone for free that wants to restore it. The body has a hole cut in the roof for a sun roof and I had planned to replace the roof skin with a wrecking yard cut that I got that is in perfect condition. I paid $200 for the roof but I'll include that for free…

Hey guys hows it going? I just thought I would introduce myself. I'm Austin, I'm 20 years old and attend the University of Alabama. Originally from Huntsville, AL. I'm new to Classic Zcar Club but definitely not to the Z community. I mostly have done my researching and posting on HybridZ but I have recently acquired a 71 240Z that I am restoring and thought this would be a more appropriate community for an all original early Z. The car is a 6/71 build date bought 8/71 by Dr. David A Justice in Heflin, AL. I got the car about a month ago from him so the car was in Heflin for 41 years and is now in Tuscaloosa. It has the typical battery tray rust but other than that it is …

Just venting and asking also. So I get my car back together-finally and drive around-nice! BUT, I realize that I still have issues-and more. I had replaced my head gasket and at the same time changed the valve timing-advanced it closer to the advertised number. Didn't feel much different driving, and in fact my car has never felt as strong as when I first rebuilt the motor about 7500 miles ago. The good is that the Subaru diff I put in is quiet and I have had no issues with it. The 3.90 gearing has made the car feel peppy and I can notice the handling difference of the LSD. The diff did NOT cure my high speed vibration-so more work there. So after driving around for a wh…

So I'm now the proud owner of a 1970 240z. Previous owner had been working on it for a while, body has no rust, One spot of bondo, all primerd black. Brakes and steering have been gone through. She's a project, and needs some love, but its a starting point, and I could not be happier. I'm lucky enough to have access to a full auto shop, with anything I could ever want for working on it. But with this, come a few questions.. Ordered a bushing kit, seat belts, and some weather stripping. All going to be installed sooner or later (sooner more than likely) The car came with 16'' konig rims. Look real nice, and such, but under hard cornering, the fender touches the ti…

Nissan Fairlady Z432 Toyota 2000gt Mazda Cosmo Honda S800 Just got my copy of Automobile magazine and read this article. I found the online article. Awesome cars with different approaches with their engines. The Mazda with the rotary, the Honda with the one carburetor per cylinder and the awesome Fairlady and 2000gt. http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/driven/1203_at_the_dawn_of_the_rising_sun/index.html
