Hello! I need some help on identifying my 5-speed trans in order to get the right sleeve/cog for the speedometer cable. I have a 1978 280Z, but the 5-speed was not hers. Any help on what is the easiest way to identify it (already mounted on the car) would be greatly appreciated!! Carlos

I would have preferred to name this thread Nuts! but that wouldn't be accurate. I'm replacing all the bushings and any worn-out parts on the front end of my 1972. While it came apart easy enough, considering, several of the bolts have damaged threads and I'd need to replace them. What I am unsure about is how exact the replacement must be, specifically the length of the unthreaded portion of the shaft. On the transverse link / control arm mounting bolt, it is pretty clear that the unthreaded portion is necessary to enable the bushing free movement around the shaft. But most of the others don't have a free-movement requirement, with the unthreaded portion simply in a …

Here's the deal. On March 11, 2004, my 240Z caught on fire. On the way to lunch, the undersized CarQuest replacement battery, which I had stupidly tethered to the battery tray with a bungee cord, slipped forward off the tray and impacted the oil filter, puncturing it. I saw the ammeter go crazy and smelled burning, so I immediately turned in to a side road and shut the car off. I popped the hood and discovered a spark from the battery had caught some of the oil mist on fire. I found a rag and quickly beat it out. I should have just had the car towed. However, like an idiot, I tried to at least nurse it to the parts place. I coasted it down the hill and came to a sto…

I have some pics of the horn mechanism and the wheel hub. I also measured the 'dish'. It is 1 1/2" flatter then the 240-280Z wheels. Has anyone seen this steering wheel or have any knowledge of this wheel? I sure can use your help people. Thank you! This is supposed to be from a 280Z or 280ZX. I do not think this is what the seller said it is. Help!

My speedo cable is drooping down and hitting the steering coupler. Does anyone have any good pics that shows how it is supposed to be secured? This cable is in the dark on all of the pics that I have found. Here is a pic of mine. Thanks!

Someone stole my motor. Looked around for a while then found this one: Then finally back together: went from l24/4spd to l28/5spd with a cam. Cut some donuts with it right after getting in and its a blast. Makes some great noise.

I have a spare pair of SUs on a 240Z manifold. They appear to look correct except the name. They have both got the name 'SU Carburettors Birmingham England' on the top of the float bowls. Were other SUs made with the four stud mounting flange.? Are they 240Z carbs?

I have a little project I'm going to do. I have a used and not so perfect Moto Lita wood wheel that is left over from a cobra replica I use to own, that I want to put on my Healey. As you can see it needs some modifications to work. Yes I could go spend $400 on a new one, but the wheel has been hanging around the garage, the ring was $10 and I have access to a welder set up for aluminum and I'm ready for a little project. Which brings me to the second part. I have an extra balance tube that I am going to bring along with me and weld up the top 4 holes, like i did on my current motor, allowing the tube to smoothed out. I will save it for future use, or I will part…
