Most Canadians I know pronounce DAT as "DAT" which is like "RAT" .Most Americans I know seem so pronounce DAT as "DOT". How do the rest of the English speaking regions pronounce it? FYI I also say Mazda with Ma like Macaroni but my friends in Upper Canada say Ma like "Maw" as in Mom.

The Jan. 2011 issue of Classic Cars & Parts magazine features a Cover and three or four page article about Jim Frederick's HLS30 00048. You should be able to pick up a copy at the local news stands soon. Way to go Jim !!! FWIW, Carl B.

Looking to tuck the wiring harness that runs along the frame rails on my 240z and wondering the best place to relocate the wiring to. I've already gotten rid of the external voltage regulator, but I feel theres still more I can loose. Has anyone got any pointers or a thread dedicated to this?

Hello all. I'm currently in the process of hunting down a pre smog 240/260z for a project/fun car. I'm studying auto tech, and have acces to a fully equipped shop, as well as a machine and tranny shop. Makes this whole thing a lot easier for me. I currently have a new, and reliable vehicle, so this won't be the only one in my life. The Z will fulfill my wish to have a fun project vehicle. There are two out in my area that have sparked my interest. One is a white 71 240, PO has put a 280 hood, and 280 wheels on it, states only one rust area on a rocker pannel. Looks to be in good shape, just needs some interior parts and work. Also has a L28 motor, and a 5 speed in it …

Yo, Another fundamentals question that others may be interested in. Again, mods please move the thread if it's valid enough to be put into the wheels/brakes forum. My questions are in regard to using wheel spacers to adjust where the wheels sit. 1) Is there any difference in added stress when a wider-than-stock wheel with a custom, properly fitted offset is used compared with when the same wider-than-stock wheel with more offset than necessary that is moved outward using a spacer is used? My query is specific to performance driving. 2) Is there a threshold of too much for using spacers where performance driving is involved? Thanks, everyone, hopefully someone other than…

I bought a 73 4 speed and correcting some wiring issues found all the automatic transmission relays still in place. I doubt the previous owner swapped in a 4 speed after looking at the wiring issues. My question is: Did Datsun produce 4 speed cars with automatic transmission relays in place. I was told by the PO that the first owner was the wife of a Datsun dealership owner. If so, why buy an automatic and convert it?

Hey everyone, I'm off to look at another Z this weekend that has a stock motor in it. It's a 1973 240Z, and I want to make sure it has the "domed" SU Carbs and not the "flat-topped" SU Carbs, which seem to be more prone to vapor lock from what I've read. The problem is all the carbs online seem to look the same to me. They have a black screw on top and look reasonably "domed." See the one attached as an example. Does anyone have a photo of the flat-topped carbs so I can be sure to tell the difference? Also, I understand that vapor lock was a common problem with these vehicles, and that there were things you could do (like insulate the fuel lines) to remedy it. Are there …

Ok,...I am gathering parts for my "new" 240. However, I can't seem to find a place that supplies the door panels. I have seen them on eBay for over $400.00 a pair. Where can I locate door panels for my Z without having to take out a second mortgage?

Hello everyone--I've been looking for a Z for about a year, and they're hard to find in my area...hard to find good ones, that is. But, the other day I found this one on Craig's List and was interested. I don't really understand what's been done to the car, what that means in terms of how it runs, or even what questions I should ask. The owner hasn't been driving it for a while, and claims it's running around 250 hp. The link is: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/cto/2750815705.html The description is: 1973 DATSUN 240Z. OWNED SINCE 1984. OVER $25000.00 INVESTED.ASKING $5000.00 OBO NEEDS SOME WORK. I DON'T DRIVE ANYMORE AND WANT MY GARAGE SPACE BACK. ASKING $5000.00 O…
