In the service manual it instructs to use a "conductive sealant" when installing the oil pressure switch. Nissan dealer says they use teflon tape. I don't believe that is conductive. Any advice? Second, after running for a while going into town and restarting it misses badly until I take off and then it hits smoothly on all six. It used to do it only after a an hour or so on the freeways. Now it does it on a trip to town. It has me baffled. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Rod

I have 2 1971 front grills. There are 2 long very small diameter bolts that holds the grill assmebly togther. I am pretty confident that these are 3mm diameter but I am struggling with the thread pitch. Does any one know what the thread pitch is for these bolts and know where I could possibly about them? Thanks newtonhubcap

I have my differential cover off and both of my rear brake drums. I am getting ready to take all of my suspension parts to be powder coated. I am wondering what is best for the aluminum pieces - differential and drums. Is it ok to sand blast these parts or is the aluminum too soft. What is the best way to clean the aluminum to get it looking shiny and new. If I can get it shiny and new I can either leave looking this way and clear coat them. What is the best cleat coat for these parts. The drums probably need something that can handle the heat. If the aluminum is too hard to get shiny and new looking, would you just powder coat them in silver or whatever other color…

I have been on this forum now for acouple of month but have not properly introduced my self. First and foremost thank you to all the guys and gals on here that have been kind enough to share their wealth of knowledge on our Awesome Z's. I purchased my beautiful '78 280z 2+2 March 2011 for a mere $1000. She runs, she drives and is all bone stock. Inside is actually pretty good black vinyl, It doesn't ahve a radiobut everythign is immaculate in terms of actually being THERE. So I was fortunate to work at a Dealership that got it in for a trade and i jumped right on it. Anyway I am from Ardmore, OK. and Have loved always to work on vehicles and this will be my official resto…

I thought I took a lot of pictures when I disassembled my '72 240Z four years ago, but I didn't take enough! Can you identify these brackets. That's a foot long ruler at the bottom of the picture. Pretty sure they are on the bottom of the car someplace. Thanks.

Alright guys, Here's my situation, it's been awhile since I've posted anything I've been really busy with my slow resto 240z. But here's my question, my 240z came with the e31 block, and someone stuck on an e88 head. The motor needs to be rebuilt anyways. I also have a f54 block that I just picked up, I believe it's from a 280zxt since it has dished pistons on it. That motor also needs to be rebuilt. I have a n42 head that was worked on and only half finished by a Z shop that closed down some years ago, but is pretty clean. Anyways I've read a lot of threads on here saying go L24 vs L28 but my question is what is the benefit? I'll be putting triple carbs, on it a…

I'm wondering if anyone has used these and know if they increased gas mileage. I'm just trying to justify the $70 for them because it would've been gas anyway if they do help If they do, how much did you see the increase by?

Not sure if this counts as belonging in our suspension forum, mods please move if you deem it so. I've been reading up on sectioning struts, and just want to know if I understand specifically why it's a good idea to section struts when prepping a z car for a lowered and/or adjustable suspension. As I understand it, struts are sectioned to match the shorter length of performance strut inserts with a correspondingly shorter strut tube. This allows the strut insert to retain full travel when the car is lowered (or raised, I suppose). Also, as I understand it, the reason sectioning the struts is not necessary is because a spacer placed inside the factory strut tube can be…
