Bought my first Z, a '73 with 28000 miles in 1975, Silver, 4 speed, slotted mags, I installed Marshal SEV's and Muholland shocks- paid $4200.00. Car was great. The seller also gave me the stock wheels, tires, hubcaps and 2 snow tires/steel wheels. had vapor lock issues in the summer. Car eventually rusted away, huge 8" hole in the driver side floor! Traded it on a 78 280 with a 5 speed, light blue with louvers, paid $10,800.00 and got $1800.00 for the 240. A great GT, A/c and that 5 speed was super. Three years later, got hit by a drunk driver and the car was a total loss- luckily I was not hurt but the drunk was. Then bought a used 79 two tone silver blue ZX whic…

I split this thread off from a different one, as the topic seems to have drifted.

Z Mechanic

Hey guys, Still new to the club but have found it to be a great resource for everything Z. I moved my 240 with me in 08 from Coronado CA to Fayetteville AR. In CA I knew a great Z mechanic and had resources at my fingertips. Here...not so much. I was wondering if anybody knew of any mechanics within a 200 mile radius who have experience working on Z's. I could take it to any trusted mechanic im sure, but i'd like to take it to someone who loves the car as I do. Thanks.

I want to put a nice shiny silverlike finish on several parts on several cars that I have. I do not want to spend a arm and leg to do it though. After researching it seems Nickle plating using Nickle acetate seems pretty uncomplicated and inexpensive. Oh by the way, I have a chemistry degree (do not use it anymore), but suffice it to say I know how to handle and deal with chemicals. So dealing with dangerous chemicals does not bother me. I see a lot of kits but in my opinion they are ripping people because they do not know any better and are weary of dealing with chemicals. I have had a time trying to find a chemical supplier here in Birmingham. I am sure that I can hav…

I used to own a '75 280Z. Was stationed in San Diego in '86 and that is where I traded the car for a needed Ford truck at the time. Trying to locate the car that I originally owned but do not have the VIN. Has someone been down this road before and have advice on locating it. I am sure that my name and/or DL is tied to that VIN in a database somewhere. Hopefully can cross reference that with the VINs supplied by on here to locate the current owner. The NC DMV was of no assistance. Thanks in advance for assistance.

I have two Z's with missing driver door springs and have seen a few others with the same problem. I discovered this $7 tool and hope to use it to insert a new spring with the hinge on the car.
