1963 Austin Healey, L28 with round top SU's. I have the motor dialed in and it is running great. When it is warmed up (160 degrees+) it accelerates wonderful, no stumble at steady speed, really a joy to drive. Now that it is cold, when the motor is below that 160 degree mark (perhaps 5-10 min of driving) it flutters on slow acceleration or steady speed. The chokes are there and operable. The chokes help some when cold, but I think mostly because it raises the idle 1000 rpm. The motor is stripped of all the smog parts, intake warming tubes, air cleaner vents etc. I know, I know...what do you expect? The question is. Do you think the poor running when it is col…

I am not in the demographic for the Toyota/Sion/Subaru FT-86/FR-S/BRZ. However, I must have this car. To me, it's about as close to the original 240Z as we'll ever get in this age where cars are computer controlled. In fact, the designers when out of their way to keep computers away from the suspension of this car (as far away as federal regulators would allow). Of all of the cars I've owned over the years, it was the light-weight cars with awesome engines (not necessarily high horsepower engines but high output engines) that I loved the most; original 240Z, original CRX-Si, original MR2 and original Neon RT. So now comes along the Toyotabru; proper sports coupe styling, …

A couple of weeks ago I bought a 280z 2+2. The title says its a 1976, but I'm a little confused because even though the back bumper for example, looks like a 1976, the sticker on the inside of the driver's side fender says it has 170 hp which I didn't think came out until 1977 and it also has a 5 sp trany which I didn't think was available until 1977. The numbers on the engine match the numbers on the fender sticker so I think its the original engine. Anyhow, how can I verify what year it is? (eg, what sticker or are there stamped numbers, etc). Thanks Gary

Its a rainy Sunday afternoon and I was thinking about the rear defroster in my 240z. It's still in the shop but I know that many of the defroster grid lines are broken/worn away. I know this topic has been discussed before on the different ways to try and fix it. Some have used the paint/epoxy to fill in the lines and restore function. Frost fighters makes a replacement system but you would potentially have to upgrade the wiring. One of the parts of the Frost Fighters system is a pre-placed system of wires that then hooks up to their bus bars. What about just using the prepared lines to fix the existing defroster without upgrading to their entire system? Unfortunat…

This thread will be dedicated to the restoration of my fathers 71 240z. He bought the car last month, but we have been trying to buy this very car for 13 years. It has been sitting un-driven since 1979. I take a lot of pix, so by the end of this I am sure there will be hundreds of photos if not thousands. We are attempting to replace as many bolts as possible as well as removing all undercarriage components, blasting and or cleaning and reassembling with new components or at least painting the old with semi gloss black Poly-urethane through a detail gun. The interior is almost perfect except for the seats which will be re-upholstered. 1 very small crack in the dash. The…

I've done a little research, but have not come across an answer. Where is the best place to tow my 240z from the front? I have seen it done from the bumper brackets, but that is some pretty thin metal that the brackets bolt to. I did notice that I have two tow hooks below the valance. According to this forum they are not supposed to be there and were intended to be removed by the dealer. I'm using a tow bar and any insight would be greatly appreciated. Chase

The buyer came down from Indiana and was so very pleased with it and couldn't get over how well I took care of it. I rode with him and let him take it for a drive and he shook my hand and gladly said " We have a deal. I'll take it" It's been a rough sad day for me though. As the guy was loading the Z on his friends trailer he could tell I was having a hard time and patted me on the shoulder and said. "Don't worry man, I'm going to take the best of care of this car" I told him well that makes me feel a lot better. I know it will be in good hands

Going to Japan for the first time on a biz trip. What are must does for Z-geeks to do while in Japan. Logistically I won't be able to leave Tokyo unfortunately, not enough time this go around. I can think of a few things. Hitchhike around downtown and hope Kats-san is driving around offering lifts in his 432Z (remember to get in on the left as pushing Kats out of the driver's seat might be considered rude....) Try to find a Z parts supply and stuff the suitcase worth goodies that are best bought in Japan Start an import business of these freaky little items

Is it just me, or is this place a rip off? Stuff is overpriced in my opinion. I dont know of the quality because I could never fathom spending the amount they request for any of these items. I just want to know what the community thinks so maybe things will change. You know your 2 cents counts as a total to something in the end.
