I took my sons Z to Rob Fuller @ z car garage in San Jose. I am no easy sell so after many phone calls/emails I felt Rob was a good choice. Rob was aware and respectful of this "Father/son" build and was infomative/kept us "up to date" on what we we looking at ("new"1973 Z buy) for future maint/upgrades etc. I had Rob "dial in the SU's. WOW what a difference!!!!!!!!!!!! The crew at Z car garage (Fred/Joshua/AT/ one other young man) were all great. Rob has assembled a fine crew and I cannot say enough on how happy I was with his work/recommendations, etc. Rob took the time to answer every question I had and he was happy to have helped. You can't do better than that. Thanks…

So I was testing my newly rebuilt brakes, pumping them repeatedly (testing pedal travel), and noticed that the RPMs took a brief hop everytime I applied the brakes and then released them. Then as the engine warmed up, no more hop. Of course when the engine is cold, it runs rich, so a tiny bit more air through the brake booster line helps burn the excess fuel, raising the idle briefly. When the engine warms up, the ratio leans out to the correct mix, and a bit more air really has no effect on idle speed, so the idle doesn't hop when the brake is applied and then released. If my ratio were too lean, I imagine the extra air would momentarily reduce combustion efficiency,…

I enjoyed my time driving and tuning on my car this summer, but right now the car is down and out for a while. I've had a pesky oil leak around the rear main that I can seem to resolve. I've change out rear main seal and oil pan gasket with negative results. I think I might have scarred up my crank around the seal trying to get the old one out. I'm getting to the point that I can't work under a car anymore because of buldging discs in my neck---probably caused by too much working underneath my car. Then my head gasket gave out for some unknown reason and I hate the unknown. There is nothing that jumps out at me to why the gasket gave out-which hopefully means that nothin…

I just want to hear some of the opinions you guys have here about the value of a 510. I've watched these cars easily reach 10k+ on Ebay, but most of them are swaps and track cars. What would be a good ballpark for the value of a 1972 510 2 door, 95% original including paint, and is a mechanically sound daily driver? One recently came avaliable in my area and I was wondering what they are going for normally. This isn't it, but a good reference to the condition of it. Chase

It is about 10 miles from me. I am thinking about going to look at it. also have some other pictures she sent which I am posting. Is it worth looking at? She claims she is the original owner. It IS the color I want. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/cto/2660097679.html

where to start? i've been looking around at Z's... and I have a pretty good idea of what I want to do with one. but the question comes back to me, where do i start? the aspect of rust is a little daunting... and the price of a fully restored z is.. expensive! what do you folks think? where is the middle ground? for a young student like me who wants to get into these cars, but doesn't want to get stuck with a rotting heap, ie. do i start with something like http://alberta.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-Modified-Datsun-280z-W0QQAdIdZ318044066 and deal with the problems as they come? learning to fix and restore? learn how to do the body work... or should i skip the p…
