I have a mostly restored 1970 Datsun 2000 roadster that just needs paint to make it respectible. It is fun and reliable so I drive it to work once a week or so. Based on that, a coworker agreed to give me his non-running 1972 240Z for free since it would go to a good home. This is a true California car that is very complete except for a hood. It has a lot of miles and a 280Z engine with the original 240Z intake equipment and all the smog stuff. The engine is an ATK rebuilt engine with unknow mileage. It has alloy wheels with the original steel wheels and perfect hubcaps in the back of the car. I recently purchased a hood and front bumper on Craigslist to complete t…

My 77 280 starts fine after the first start of the day so I'm sure I need a new check valve to keep the fuel pressure in the system over night. Would anyone know where a fella could purchase such an item without buying the whole fuel pump?

Alright guys so I'm finally going to paint my L28! So my 77 is 216 White, original paint job and when I get her repainted I'm going to keep her the same color. However I might add one sky-blue racing stripe most likely down the center, possibly a little off center. Now originally I was thinking either painting the engine stock blue, or maybe a lighter more sky blue to match the stripe. I'm also going to repaint my engine bay very soon and of course keep it the stock white. Then I got the idea of painting my engine white. I looked around the web and saw some very scary L-series engine paint jobs and of course some good ones however not a single white one. I think it will l…

OK, 72 240Z that I had road raced a number of years ago. I had cut the spare tire well out to accomidate the race fuel cell but saved the piece. The car will end as a resto-mod. Orignal paint, interior, etc but certain mods will stay, ie: alum rad, 2.5" exhaust. Is there such a thing as a street leagel fuel cell that I could route the filler to the original location? Or should I go back to the factory tank, (I still have it). Thanks, Joe

My friend and I had bought a 1972 Z about 6 years ago in PA. He passed away shortly after that and I shipped the car out to AZ for his mom. Now she wants me to have the car back. The car just arrived this past Saturday and I got it running for the first time last night. It had sat for about a year so I gave it an oil change and some fresh gas. It starts up real nice. When we bought the car we were told it had a stroker motor in it. I am still investigating to figure out what was done to the car. Pics can be seen at the link below. http://projects30.tumblr.com/

Ok so I've been trying to take off my front fender and I think I've almost got it however one thing I do not have done yet is the head light wire and side flasher light wire. For the head light it looks like I can just take the lamp holder out and the wire will come with it. The side flasher is more complicated though because it does not fit through the opening that it mounts in. This would be easy if these wires disconnected at some point but it's all one fluid wire. Does anyone know how to get the side flasher out of the fender? edit: this probably should've gone in body/paint sorry.

I was getting pulsating lights and it tested bad at the auto store. Since my car is quite the mixture of Z parts, I'm not sure what year/model the Hitachi alternator is from. They couldn't however identify it as coming from a 240/260/280/280ZX, although I suspect it does. Note the band around the alternator was a bright green. I toned it down a little with the color seen in the picture. Does anyone know what year model this was from?

So after doing a little searching I found my Z's original owner awhile back, and decided to call him today. I have every paper and invoice he ever did to my car and all the owners between never tossed any of it. My current paint scheme and 280zx hubcaps were all done by him in 1981. He said he had never owned a car longer than this one. He told me that when he got it, it had a dealership plate riveted to the hatch and made them take it off, fill the holes and paint the deck before he took delivery. I told him I just took out his Mulholland inserts this summer. He was an attorney here in Houston and now is a lawyer in Dallas, I think he is about 70 years old now. I …

The Maestro Film is looking for a Lime-yellow 240Z for a documentary film that they are making. If anyone can help out, that would be great. Below is information from the Maestro Film contact. Thanks! Dear Classic Zcar owners, Hello! My name is Jocelyn, and I am working with filmmaker Mark Tchelistcheff on a documentary about his great uncle, André, "the Maestro" of wine (see below for more information). I am posting through Rich Scharf to the Zcar community in hopes that you might be able to help us out. Mark, is creating a self-funded labor of love documentary film to honor his great uncle. One of the scenes he is trying to re-create, is his great uncle André d…

I just picked up a little Datsun 620 from the original owner today. Overall a pretty solid truck, a little rust here and there, and a ton of dirt. Nothing major. My main question is is there any parts catalogs or websites, like Blackdragon or MSA, that sell repro parts for 620s? Most parts I could probably find for it would be on eBay or Craigslist, but other sources would be nice. I've seen some small internet businesses that sell a few chrome pieces and some rubber, but not a full blown inventory. Chase
