Well like everybody else, I looked everywhere for the proper lash pads for my new cam. I was grateful for the suggestion of other members to go with thicker pads and have them machined down to correct size. Unfortunately I was not aware of ZCC at the time. Long story short I ordered .180 pads from MSA = 60.00. ( great price ) Shipping = 11.95. Machining ( to .160 ) = 9.75 each = 117.00. Tax = 14.04. For a grand total of $ 202.94 or $ 16.91 each. This, cobbled with a returned cam that I ate the shipping, tax and duty on, springs and head work, it quickly becomes apparent, how one can spend thousands on a rebuild. SO, if you see lash pads for $10.00 that are at your …

I am just starting to restore my 1976 datsun 280z. It has 80,000 miles and all stock or at lest mostly all stock. When running it runs great but I have had an issue on 3 occasions. The first 2 times after getting gas the car would not start. I waited about 2 hrs and the car then started. The last time the car just stopped working as I was driving. Similar symptoms; however, never could get the car started. The car sounds like it wants to start but is not getting gas. Not really sure. I replaced the fuel filter while sitting on the side of the road waiting for the wrecker but did not help. Bruce

Looking for a 5 speed trans out of a 1981-83 280zx. I own a 1974 260z and have pulled my 4 speed because it is shot. Im am doing the conversion to a 5 speed. Was told that this trans will bolt in with little to no modifications. Anyone have any advice on finding this tranny and about the conversion?

More of a collectors item since there is a club parts CD. I don't know this person but thought someone here might like this. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/2515438269.html

First off, just wanted to say hey. I have been lurking for a while. Z's have always caught my attention so I came around here once every now and again. Anyway, there was a very good (at least I thought so) on a 73' 240z I couldn't pass up and just bought it. Here is a phone pic until I can find the cable to my camera. I know a lot about cars, but not much (yet) about working on cars. If you guys can bare with me, hopefully this will be a good first project. I intend for this car to be a daily driver. Also, if possible, the way I want to go about restoring the car is so that I can still use the car as I work on it. Obviously certain things can not be done that way. A…

I'm wondering how long the average L28 engine in a 280Z will last, miles wise? I know every engine will be different and of course taken into account all the infinite number of variables, but from experience? I currently have my L28 out of my Z and I'm cleaning it up and going to replace the necessities. However deep in my heart I really want to rip it apart and give it a complete rebuild. It has 177,000 miles on it, I've never seen it run since I bought the car after 8 years of sitting and went straight into giving the engine bay a refreshment. The PO said it ran fine when he stopped driving it. Anyhow I just want to know because if it will easily make it to 250K then ma…

I hope I'm posting this in the right catagory, but just to let everyone know in case they are needing something, I am parting out a 1980 280ZX with an auto trans. The car is silver and blue with a blue interior. Most of the glass was broken out long before I got it, but some of the interior isnt too terriably bad. feel free to email me with any requests or questions. My email addy is holly@wolfmagick.com thanx, Holly

Recently made a pretty significant purchase. Although things didn't work out perfectly, Al proposed some options and ultimately provided a very fair resolution. I am appreciative. Michael

Am working on the headlight buckets for 2 1971 240z I have, getting them ready for re-plating. I have the buckets completely disassembled except for the white-plastic block that headlight adjustment screw screws into. Question I have, is how are those installed and how do you remove them so they are not damage by re-plating process. Thanks in advance.
