Hey everybody. My wife just inherited her dad's one owner 72 240Z. Hasn't been started or driven since about 2005. Car was sold new at the same dealership in Marion,Indiana that the $300k green 240 BAT car came from. I'm a lifelong gear head (muscle era mopars) and have completed a rotisserie restoration on my 69 1/2 six pack Super Bee. That being said I know nothing about these Z cars so I decided to join for info and advice when I start getting the 240 roadworthy this fall. Looking forward to working on this neat little car.

While reviewing @zed2's thread on unchained vs. chained gas caps I spotted @26th-Z's comment about undated supercedes on that item. I recalled seeing a similar catalog notation on door lock assemblies while recently doing research for a friend. Today I was cleaning up some door lock assemblies and spotted a unicorn the probably confirms the timing of this particular supercede (80501-E4100, undated supercede 80503-E4100). The lock on the left is a left side unit, date coded 9 - 7, it has two clock-style coil springs, Note the position of the long arm is down on the smaller spring. The unit on the right is also a left side unit, date coded 9 - 11. It has only one clock-styl…

This popped up in my Twitter feed, sans explanation... Not my cup of tea by a longshot, but it looks like someone's labor of love. Anyone have any details?

Searching for some replacement black plastic panels. Was looking at the Palco product. Crazy expensive with shipping, so I was wondering what others thought of the product? Dont mind spending the money if they are really good quality. Thanks!

...I have the Z Car Source 2022 calendar on my wall, and the more I stare at Tyler Sprigg's orange 280Z 2+2 (the featured car for the month of May), the more I dig the look. He did a great job with it. The photo above isn't the one from the calendar; the calendar one is a rear 3/4 shot that really emphasizes the "hatchback-iness" of the roofline profile change. It looks really cool from either angle, but especially the back.

Hi All. Need some help. Replacing U Joints on my '70 240. We noticed that the half shaft flange/yoke (4 bolts) had a lot of play and were worn out. I can't find the flanges anywhere....Summit Racing might have one with the proper measurement's??? We are checking. Am I going to have to buy used half shafts and take the flanges/yokes off? Does anyone have any experience/advice with this? I would appreciate any help at all. Thank you.

So the interior guy already laid down the undercoating, vinyl and carpeting. I'm having to peel it back to reinstall things like seatbelts as part of the restoration. Next up: Routing the body harness from the connections on the right side of the dash to the notch in the dogleg panel. The harness has already been run, but it's not tucked away. I assume it goes under the carpeting and vinyl along the passenger sill, but I'd like to get an exact visual so I only have to peel and reapply things once. Does anyone have a mid-restoration picture of the passenger sill area showing the harness tucked where it's supposed to live? Thanks.

Need some input here. My car is a 7/72 build but still has the early braking layout. So the left rear brake line is clogged. Nothing comes out the bleeder screw. I disconnected the rubber line from the hardline on the hub, still nothing. I disconnected #15 from #18 above, and brake fluid came out. I'm pretty handy with a wrench, and was using the right tools (10mm and 19mm flare nut wrenches + PB Blaster), but 49 years of never being disconnected must've taken its toll, and neither hardline would separate from the rubber lines near the brake drums. Nuts rounded completely. So I had to cut the hardlines next to the nuts (sorry for the t…
