Went for a 280 mile trip in the 240 yesterday to finish a job on the Delmarva peninsula. I was always suspicious that the speedo was inaccurate, now I have my proof. A Maryland state trooper pulled me over and wrote me a warning ticket, for doing 85 in a 55. He asked me if I knew how fast I was going and I replied 68 or 70, as shown on the speedo. He said he paced me for two miles at a steady 85, but since I was doing everything else safely, passing and lane changes, I only got the warning and some complements on the car. He also liked how I made the German style front tag, and informed me that it was perfectly legal, so thats cool. Other than that the car ran great. So I…

Adding some front speakers. I am leaving the stock radio but adding a power amp under the passenger seat. I’m putting 2, 8 speakers in the back in the original locations and 2, 2 ½ midranges in the front. Maybe add some tweeters later. I will be able to plug in almost any source to the amp, an iPod or navigator along with the radio.

So I wish I had more powerful motor and and a better stereo and a rear main seal that doesn't leak, but when I drive around town and some young lad(reminds me of myself at that age) pulls up along side of me and gives me the thumbs up and yells--"That's sick dude", it does make me really proud of the old Z. It reminds me why I fell in love with the design---it's timeless in it's appeal. In the same drive around town I have some other gentleman closer to my age giving me the same thumbs up while he honks his horn. Earlier in the McDonalds some young girl is determined what kind of car that is, because it's so cool. "No it's not a vette, keep trying" I smile! So as I conte…

I recently purchased a 1978 280z. I cant figure out what a couple things are. I have two pull knobs under the dash, on both sides. Driver side, its next to the hood release. Same location on the passenger side. I have no idea what this is...but it appears to be broken. You can still see the residue of the electrical tape the previous owner had wrapped around it. This large yellow tank has a small line going to it, but it is torn in half. Lastly, it came with aftermarket lca's and sway bars? Im curious if anyone can identify them from the blue color. Maybe a certain company uses this color blue as a signature? Thanks for any helps guys.

In preparation for installation of my 1/4 windows with new weatherstrip, I've got a couple quick questions. In reference to the long rubber piece on the front of the that hangs down below the window opening for the door to seal against, should I use adhesive to secure it to the door jamb? On the upper corner, there is some upper corner rubber pieces, as well as the flat part of that front seal that sits against the top of the window/door jamb. Should I use adhesive on that agains the paint as well? The reason I'm asking is that the adhesive that came with my weatherstrip kit is the loctite weathestrip adhesive, and specifically says not to use on painted surfaces..

I read about these hood scoops in a book about Zs and this is the first one I've seen for sale...this one is for sale on Ebay now. The guy also has a European urethane front spoiler for sale. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Competition-240Z-260Z-fiberglass-hood-scoop-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4aac60f2e8QQitemZ320719614696QQptZVintageQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

What size rivets hold the vin number plate to the dashboard on an S30? I had my 70Z dash redone at Just Dashes while my electrical harness was redone and my 1/8 inch rivets are too big--I figure it is a metric size. Zeefogey
