So I've finally got my Z in my hands and now I'm deciding on how exactly to do the restoration. I know a plan is key to doing a right job. The car was running in '03 however it then sat for eight years. It's in very good shape and I'm hoping once I go through replacing all the hoses and fluids and the likes it might just start up. I don't plan to do a "restoration" in the sense that I'll be restoring the car to it's factory state. I also do not plan on making it a completely modded car. I love the Z's for what they are but how I see it is, there's lot of mods you can do to improve performance while not spoiling the car's originality, and in one way improving performance i…

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I always thought ATF was automatic tranny fluid... I'm about get a 77 280Z that's been sitting for 8 years so I have a lot of work to do before starting her up, now I keep hearing about pulling the spark plugs and pouring ATF in and letting it sit overnight then trying to hand crank it etc etc.. What is ATF referring to in this case? Because I would assume you would use a very light oil to do the aforementioned task. Thanks

I looked on this site and didn't find anything else about this Toyota 2000 GT replica (but I'm sure there is stuff somewhere). Anyway, the 2000 GT was originally supposed to be built by Nissan, but got shopped to Toyota...only a few hundred were built. I personally think the Datsun is a better looking car anyway. Later, Alex http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2009/01/toyota-2000gt-replica-based-on-nissan.html

Here she is, 1973 240Z Coupe in new 901 white. Original interior replaced in its original red. Suspension has lots of BRE parts in it. BRE sways, possibly BRE springs. Camber adjustable. Nissan Comp headers, strut bar, LSD Differential. Kosei K-1 Racing wheels which I am not sure I will keep. I have always loved Panosports - want to trade? Engine is 2.4 with flat top pistons, E31 Garolomy head, triple Weber 42 DCOE carbs... So as Steve Parmley said, check out the Z Rated Porn!

Hi All, I'm having a real hard time finding a factory radio or getting my radio fixed for my 83ZX. I'm trying to keep the car as original as possible and begin taking it to shows. If I change my radio to a more modern unit and new face plate, does that decrease the value of the car from a collector and show standpoint? Thanks

I dropped a new long block motor in the car, using my old petronics disti from 240z and dual down draft webers. It started, but backfired through the carb like an old school bus. It is clear that something was way off, I started fresh with the ignition timing/firing: - crank position is right on the TDC mark on pulley. - physical check of #1 piston (closest to radiator) is at TDC - I then set #1 spark plug wire to where rotor is pointing. - Went counter clockwise 153624 Car will not even fire now. I then rolled it back in the garage to give me time to think about it. Any thoughts? Ken

Ordered up set of carbs with Bruce at Z Therapy and they came yesterday. Chose the euro balance tube and non water set up. Right out of the box they looke AWESOME!! My buddy who is running tripple webers on his 75 had the reaction of "DUDE!" so I know they met his approval. I don't get to run them for some time, engine is still out of the car and the undercarrriage is at the the powder coater's but am very tickled to say the least. I know there are endless accaledes out there, but Bruce, who I am certain has a PhD in BS, is great to work with! I'll get them mocked up along with the header this morning and then undercoating the entire car while the suspension is out. …

Hey I'm wondering if anyone has used BAP import parts for parts for their Z and if they have quality parts there?

Been looking for a 280z for awhile, since my Z31 project is almost finished. I found a 77 280z 5-speed manual close by and took a look at it today. Car shows it has 39,000 miles on it and according to the owner, it belonged to his wife (original owner) who passed away about 3 years ago. She only drove it in the summer and always kept it garaged. When she passed He parked it in his barn and it's been sitting there ever since. Interior is in great shape, basic body is fine with no dents, engine looks clean for sitting for 3 years, etc. The bad thing is that it has bubble rust in a couple of places - underside of back of hood, front fenders at lower rear, passenger doo…
