I'm restoring a 1970 mustang and I use bolts kits from a company called AMK to replace all my original hardware. A box full of bags of hardware labeled for specific section of the car like R/H fender, left door, bumber bracket...etc. Anyone offer a similar service for Z's? Or is there an easy way to look up and purchase new hardware for chassis parts that I know will be rusty or broken before I even begin work? Saves that mid-job trip to store to find.replacement bolts and such?

Just wanted to say thanks to you guys and gals for helping me with my head lights and my rear defogger. I found everything I needed to repair those items by doing searches here. The headlights were easy, just sprayed the contact cleaner in the turn signal switch. The rear defog need the relay cleaned as well. Thanks again, y'all are great.

Why take apart a perfectly good Z?:paranoid: I guess it's because its time. After almost 40 years of oxidation and corrosion the engine needs a bit of sprucing up. I will start dissassembling today and get the zinc plated parts cleaned and replated. Wow, there are a lot of zinc plated parts. I am plannning on doing most of the cleaning myself and then taking the parts down to Les at Classic Datsun for a final clean and plating. Looks like the brake and clutch lines will need to go as well. Unfortunate because I just got the brakes working great (rears were not operating for a period of time). I am still debating on the braided hose, but leaning towards braided. …

I'm still trying to get the 120+ photo's from the shop, however I had a few of these on my camera. The car still needs some work, as you all know it's the small stuff that is taking forever. I also need to do a really good buffing on the car to make it really shine. This has been a wonderful yet frustrating project, but in the end I'm glad I did it. Hopefully this project will draw to a close in the next two weeks and I can enjoy driving the car for the rest of my life. Mally (Randy)

For those of you in California, April 8-10 is the Targa California. This is 2 1/2 days, appx 900 miles of driving through some of the nicest back roads in Central California. Last year I took my roadster on it, and it was easily the best drive of the year. It is basically pre '75 cars, though "continuation years" are welcome as well-picking up where the Iron Bottom left off. No entrance fee, only the cost of fuel, food and lodging if you elect to do so. Home base will be Paso Robles. I don't think they have updated the site yet, but you can google "Targa California" for info once they do. Hopefully there will be more Datsuns this year to represent.

I have a 71 240z. Local guy has a 280z 2+2 automatic that rusted out but complete and original cheap. Would enough parts be usable to me that buying it would be beneficial? Not concerned with show car originality on my 240. Just form and function. Also have no interest in fuel injection.

Hello, I am a Canadian Z owner and was wondering from any ones past experience(s) which online dealer would be the best for me to order parts from? I am currently debating between Motorsport Auto and Black Dragon. I would love to hear the pros and cons for ordering from both and/or any other online stores that you may suggest. Thanks

Anyone here seen the show Car Warriors on SPEED channel? I saw a preview of next weeks episode, the two teams will be rebuilding '73 240z's. From what I saw, I will be crying as this episode airs as two cars are ruined forever, but we'll see. Will air wednesday at 9pm eastern. :ogre:

Hi, just randomly today while I was leaving class from Lone Mountain at University of San Francisco I saw a tan 240 with a white interior and blue plates. Anybody on here that owns this car? It is definitely refreshing to see a 280z, rather than the rich kids' maseratis, lambos, aston martins, rolls royce, gtr's, m6's, and m3's I always see here. It would be cool to know another z car enthusiast goes to school at USF!

Well, After all the troubles with the shop and mechanic, and breaking my ankle last Fall my passion for getting this car done is renewed. I had severe burnout 4-5 months ago (most of that from the previous shop the car was at, but thats a different and long story) and had to just walk away with a lot of frustration. This week however I was able to spend some time with the 240 and was able to see the finish line coming up. Hopefully she will be done before May and I can enjoy the car this Summer. I got quite a bit of the interior done this week and it's starting to look like a car again. The Blue looks amazing. I didn't have my usual camera but here's a few crappy shot…
