I have a spare alternator, but I'm unsure if it's stock 40 amp or if it would be an upgrade output. I got it in a box of parts that I bought from a guy a while back. If I take it to have it tested would they be able to tell me what the amperage is? It has a Bosch reman tag on it AL236X.

I'm new! I've been researching and learning tons, and I'm about to buy my very first Z. Can't wait. My question for you all- how much do you spend (on average per month) maintaining your Z? Obviously everybody is coming from different places with their Z's... some folks have awesome budgets to spend lots to upgrade and fix everything... but not me. I'm looking to spend around 4-5k for a rust-free, mechanically sound 240. Not looking to do crazy mods and upgrades yet- just take really good care of it. The 260 finally made its first big road trip. Not too many pics. It was a pretty fast trip. We/ me and my son have been working on his 260 for about a year. All the fuel,coolant and brake lines have been replaced. including all the lines at the tank. Repacked front bearings and greased all joints. New driveshaft built. Installed a 5-speed. New header and 2 1/2" exhaust. Lots of susp. bushings replaced. Added a relay to the headlights. Added a fuse panel under the hood. My son found black seats and door panels and dyed the rest . Then we painted it over Christmas and installed new door and hatch weatherstrip. On to the trip. We left Wichita about 11:30 New Years day.…

Hello im in the process of finally swapping my automatic tranny for a manual one I haven't been able to find a thread were it tells u the parts needed to for the swap so if any one knows about one please send me the link. So far i have the 5speed tanny n drive shaft, Metal hydraulic line, clutch cylinder, pedals. I stil have to buy the clutch n fly wheel but any other parts i should know about please help me out im still gonna continue searching on other forums but any help will b appreciated! thanx cris

Has anyone done this job and what products would you recommend? I read a review on Eastwoods system and it was not favorable at all regarding the sealer. I found another kit offered by POR I think. Both of these kits seem to run around $55. Does anyone know of less expensive methods that work?

Hi all, I am Spice and am new to the forum. I have a few question's. 1) can I swap a manual trany for an automatic? 2) 14" tires are becoming harder to find, has anyone been able to change the tires with any other car to put 15" tires on and what mod. are needed to do so? 3) I have three ZX's one is a coupe and two are 2+2's has anyone found replacement floor pans for the 2+2 many places have the coupe? 4) I want to do a V8 swap in the coupe, there are kits to put a Chevy 350. has any one been able to install any other size or a Ford 351? 5) Is anyone in the Tampa / St. Petersburg Florida area that may be interested in froming a Z Club?

Thought I'd share the latest Z purchase, and let the jury decide which side of the fence the car should sit on. Here goes the story ! I found this black '71 up north with the help of a friend of mine. I have enough Z's as it is but have a hard time saying no, esp at reasonable price. Ie. I buy the car and worry about where to put it later. :stupid: Anyway I got the call from my friend, called the owner a, nice Mexican lady, and arranged a time. The wife decided she'd heard enough of me complaining about my Ryobi Batterries always dying midway thru drilling, grinding or what have you when working on the 260Z project car. So I got..... The new 1 hour green Lithium Charger 2) new 18 volt Lithium Ion Batteries. And a hummer but I don't think that's car related... LOL So what did YOU get......? Dave
