So My girlfriend wants to go look at a 370Z sport demo, she says we can pick it up for under $25k if we buy before the end of the year. I had a 350Z touring and loved the car as a driver, but thought it a was bit ugly, with that awful hump in the roof and the corner lights. The 370 fixed alot of those things that I didn't like about the 350 and is in my opinion a sharp looking car. As I understand it, it was for the last 5 or 6 months, a managers take home car and it has about 12000 miles on the clock. I'm gonna show up at the dealership in my 240 for the test drive. If I can get this car for that money, I'll be building a car barn over the Holiday's.

Hi all, I was chatting with a Triumph Spitfire owner yesterday. He commented that my 280 was a knock-off of a Ferrari. I grimaced and insisted, "No, it's its own automobile." I had previously chatted with a family member about my car, and he said he remembered it being criticized after its release on the grounds that it was a rip-off of a Jaguar E-type. I admitted that there were some similarities but insisted, as yesterday, that the Z was its own style. Reflecting on the lines of the car, it occurs to me that there are several cars from that general era that shared the 2-seater design with long hood, slung-back cabin, fastback, and sleek curves: 240/260/280Z (Japa…

I notice that the bumper on a 240 has undergone changes from 1970-1973 due to us laws and such. Did the US bumper/front or rear ever come without the verticle pieces or was that a asian market thing only? I really like the look of it and on my rear bumper the PO removed them and it looks great but he left them on the front. If I remove them what kind of holes will their be to fill? Can I do It with a set of chrome carriage bolts? any info is apreciated...thanks in advance

Hi guys, I recently purchased a louver, but it seems to not fit to my early 260z. There is like 1 inches gap between the hatch weatherstrip and the aluminum piece from the louver. I try to flip the aluminum piece around, no help, the gap is ever greater. Any suggestion??? I compare to the recently louver topic: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=40475 most of the louver seems to be tight fit, but mine just have a big fat gap........ <a href="http://s428.photobucket.com/albums/qq9/copugeek/?action=view¤t=IMG_2459.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq9/copugeek/IMG_2459.jpg" border="0" alt="Ph…

I'm in process of installing the MSA premium exhaust, the stock manifold version. The previous installed exhaust which I believe to be mostly original, still had a rigid hanger off the back of the tranny that bolted on and used a clamp around the long tube. I'm wondering if I still need this mid point exhaust hanger on the new MSA exhaust. It's a larger diameter, so I will have to fabricate something. Additionally, previous owner exhaust job cut off the first muffler hanger location, although the rear most hanger tab on the frame rail by the rear apron still exist. I'll have to fab something up in that spot too. I guess I'm just looking for ideas as I'll finish installin…

I was look at some of the plastic chrome parts on my Z that need refreshing. The part is in good shape except the chrome is cracked or pealing. I knew about "Liquid Chrome" product and thought this might be a good way to get good results and not spend $500-$1,000 in replacing good parts or re-chroming plastic parts that won't last as long as the original coating do anyways. I know over a wide surface area it more or less would not look right, however the parts I'm looking at don't have large areas of chrome, and have black painted surfaces. I was looking at using this for the chrome bars on the tail lights, the emblem on the glove box door, the bottom of the shift kn…

I am a proud new owner of a 1975 280z - previous owner relocated and left this Z in a friends barn,, from what i am told the only problem was when running cold it ran great - as soon as it got warm it ran choppy - from reading the informative threads on here - sounds like the thermotime switch - i plan on giving the Z a major tune-up - wires, plugs, fluid changes, distributor, filters, battery...i noticed on the air intake hose there was an exposed box w/ sensors and wires - no cover,,, the clutch pedal has absolutely no tension,, any suggestions before firing would be greatly appreciated (?) recommended used part website(?)

Hi, I've been a Z enthusiast for quite a while now and bought my first Z a while ago. As some of you might remember from the photos, it was done for, rusted beyond repair. I didn't want to admit it at first but soon I realized it really was dead so I scavenged some parts before selling the rest to another Z enthusiast. So now I want to get back in the game with a decent project so I was looking at some Z's for sale and one question appeared: 240Z or 280Z? I'm aware of the differences between the two so what I'm asking is mostly your opinion on these. I guess the value of a 240Z is higher because of the rarity (I know fewer 240Z's were produced) but is there a specific re…

The last piece I need to finish my interior is the black map light cover. I have the housing and the lens, but my black finish cover was broken in a few spots. If anyone has one is nice condition, (just the cover) I would love to buy it. Let me know your price with shipping to TN and I'll shoot over a Paypal ASAP. Many thanks, Randy PS....I did the see the two on Ebay, but refuse to pay $20.00 in shipping for something that small. Plus, they are selling the whole piece and I just need the cover.

Hey all, I've been in contact with a man with a 71 240Z. He's the original owner, it has 77k miles, and he wants $1,000 for it. I saw pictures, and lets say its far from perfect. Being the original owner with only 77k miles, he said the motor has seized. He said that he stopped driving the car in 81, however for 5 years after that he started it up once a year, which involved pulling the plugs, putting some oil in the cylinder, then starting it, letting it heat up and then shutting it off. He then said he did that once and the car pistons siezed to the sidewalls (whether or not that's the case I dont know. He also painted over the original color (he bought it blue, dec…
