I've got a absolutely stock 1970 240Z, one owner. It was my mother in laws. All the papers. Very little if any rust Interior redone, original patina and paint. Only change is a new OEM antenna w/ its motor. Entire drive train broken down and reworked by the Nissan dealer, last summer. Its an automatic transmission. They were amazed at the condition. It has been A garage car. The first 20 years in San Jose Ca. # HLS30-9516. My wife doesn't want it in the garage any longer. It will be for sale with all the photos soon. How many photos are necessary and I'll photograph the small, small dents in the body.

Hey guys, Does anyone know where I can buy the following: 1.The three heat/vent control cables 2. The hose from the air cleaner to the valve cover (5/8 ID I think) Would this hose need to be a gas/oil grade? 3. A series 1 radio, doesnt matter if it's working or not, I just want to keep the correct look on the inside. If anyone can help me out let me know. Thanks, Randy

I searched the site but came up empty in terms of finding this part, it looks to be NLA. My question is what is a suitable alternative to use. Although I consider my car restored, I'm not into the concours thing so changing on this item will not be the end of the world. What have some of you guys used, or if you fabricated your own make me some........I have a paypal account. Thanks, Randy

I'm dragging a car home this weekend with an L26 and I have a compression guage ready to go. What do these engines usually measure when they are healthy?

at the advice of zed2 (whose restoration thread yall may have seen here: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34490), i have enlisted tony's body shop here in dallas to restore my 76 280z. i bought the car in january of 2009, and after burning up the engine and having to completely rebuild it, i'm now moving on to the next step. i've already done the engine bay, so tony's going to do rust repair on the rest of the body, and then paint it BRG at my request. here are the first photos of the disassembly. sorry for the poor lighting in the photos, and as always, look at my flickr account for more!

Just going thru documentation for #15721 and thought I'd post a pic of the original Warranty Service card! I have the service booklet( all service intervals filled out!) and the original owners manual:cool:. Looks like Robert Allen of Poway CA was the original owner. I think the 2nd owner was Ernest W Taylor of San Diego, I have a pile of receipts from a San Diego Datsun dealer as well as Rising Sun Datsun in his name. I believe I am 4th owner, and the car has 83xxx original miles, but can't prove it! Any suggestions on how to track down these 2 owners?

Hi all, Sorry if this in the wrong forum! I'm mostly a lurker. I've owned my 75 Z for about a year and a half now. I bought it from a prominent member on another forum and have really enjoyed the car 100% for the 30% of the time it has ran (which has actually been the majority of the last 6 months after the previous R200 gave up the ghost). I've been riding around on regular collision and comprehensive insurance for the car, insured by USAA, but I am a little wary that if something were to happen to the car that I wouldn't get the full value of what at least I would think she's worth (sounds like the beginning of a fraud! haha ) So I've been looking into an agreed v…

I finally got my photos loaded onto my Flickr account with JCCS 2010 pics and the recent Fatlace Classic show. Just wanted to share.. JCCS was great this year, bigger and better than last year, and the Queen Mary park is way better than the Irvine location from last year. They said nearly 400 cars! There was so much I know I missed a few cars. Don't mind the pics of my friends . I also feel lucky to have met John Morton at this event. I had all my tools so I removed the glove box door and he signed it . Lots of pics! The set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ayates128/sets/72157625043177554/ The teaser: DSC_1022 by AYates Photos, on Flickr The Fatlace show was great f…

I've been looking at some Z advertisements that say their car is "untouched" or "unmolested". How far can one go on the car before it is "unmolested"? For example: replacing brake master? Rotor's? A repaired or replaced fender with original part? Painted (all or part)?. I'd think common wear items replaced would be okay, but if there is bondo in the front fender and it was repainted, is it still "unmolested". Things like the glass that no longer has the oem writing on it for example. I'm just curious how much liberty one can take (and accept) as "unmolested". How much, if any, does any of this mean to anyone? I understand a 40 year old car is a 40 year old car and one…

Hey guys, I've been away for a few months, to be honest after almost two years of restoring my low vin 240 I simply just burned out. It got to the point where if the shop said "oh, another 4-6 weeks" I just said fine.....I was over it and just put it out of my mind for a while. Last week they called and said they would be dropping it off to me so I could finish the interior and have the mechanic finish up the tuning. The problem is the guy who was doing it is gone, so I have to finish it or find someone else. The car starts and runs great, but it's still missing the air cleaner black hoses, and it seems there are severeal vacuum leaks. Where can I find the hoses (o…

I just bought a car with a tired 260Z motor. It is leaking oil badly, running on 5, hard to start etc. I'm inclined to give it a few hours to see if it is worth fixing in place, but I have already mentally prepared myself to pull it out. The clutch/5 speed trans is new and operates great. Is the 260 motor worth rebuilding? Should I look for a 240/280 motor as a core to rebuild instead? Would it make sense to transfer the FI on a 280 motor? What is the best way to get a 20-40 more HP out of these motors? I have done a number of cars in my past, including 510's, a datsun roadster, but most my cars have been 64-66 Fords, I know nothing about Z motors, so excuse me if …
