Hello Let me first apologize in advance for my immodesty. It was a year ago today that I acquired my Z after winning an auction on BaT. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-datsun-240z-161/ I was a bit concerned because I had never bought a car sight unseen before. Based on the comments on BaT I felt confident that I was making the right move and when the car came off the trailer my gut feeling was confirmed. The condition of this mostly original example is unbelievable. I invested some time and $$$ to make sure this car is reliable and safe in every way and operates and looks as if it just came off the showroom floor. A big thanks to Mike at Ba…

Hello i am looking to buy a Nikki fuel pump for my 1972 240z. Part No 271070 (as seen on pump housing.) See photo. Just about any condition is acceptable. My rebuild, as discussed in my previous post, was going great. Prior to final assembly I decided to give it a good degreasing. The degreasing bath I used was much to harsh and destroyed the finish. So back to the drawing board. Now instead of the nice aluminum finish, the housing is a dull dark grey…a costly mistake. Thanks. Jim

My brakes are dragging. Is this because I’ve been using my emergency brake when parking? What do I need to do to fix it?

I put about 80 miles on the new Z today. New to me, of course. What a blast. This is the best therapy there is.

I recently joined this club and have several questions for the forum. I am the original owner of a '73 240Z. The car has 50,000 original miles and has been in my garage for most of its adult life. In 2001, I overhauled the car by: 1. Switching out the original carburetors and replacing with '71 carbs. 2. Removed the ignition points and replaced with an electronic ignition. 3. Replaced the engine and transmission lubricants with synthetic. 4. Installed new Pirelli tires. 5. Professionally repainted with the original color, finishing with a clear coat. My question for the forum is if the car is driven less than 50 miles annually, with on…

Been calling around looking for another Maxima 47 head for a project I’m doing for a customer . I called a a junk yard that showed one available . I asked the guy if he really had one . He said “ I have 6” . I about dropped my phone . I said , “ I’ll take 4 ! “ I also picked up a 4 speed auto from the Maxima . Might as well fill the pallet !

Engine compartment and wheel well cleaning What it would look like to get a flat in 1970. I’m using simple green to take off the layers of grime. I used a plastic scraper on the thick stuff on the struts. It takes the paint off. I started using a plastic brush, it works but the thick stuff is a problem, any ideas on a better way to remove the thick grime?

Guys, i bought a 77 Auto over a year ago and car was sitting for 3-5 years. It does need a wash!!! I stumbled upon somewhere in the manual that says do not steam clean the engine. Is anyone aware of this? I am not able to find that again. Right now I am just planning to use some good of the shelf solvent and wash normally. Is there something I need to be careful about and prevent water to it? Appreciate some input.

Guys, I have a question about taxation.. My 71 was last appraised 3 years ago for 35k EURO which is around 39k USD. Market values have been rising, and my 240Z is restored although in 2016, since then some new things where done to it, like rebuild hood hinges, and driveshafts and diff mount and straps. She is in good original condition. Everything that can be replaced has been replaced. I e-mailed the company that does my taxations, and they said it very depends, the market in the USA is different, and prices are based on emotions ? But I find it odd, it should be a least on average 66k USD according to hagerty? And when I compare other 240Z on websites like b…
