If she (the Wife) lets me live till next week, it'll be a Miracle..... So an old friend wrote me from Iraq this week, telling me that he would finally finish his tour and be home by the 26th of March. But his 240Z needs to find a new home as the military is moving him and he can't afford to move it where he's going and there won't be any room anyways. He tells me to find someone who needs a 240Z as a fixer upper. So here's the details.... 72' 240Z. 11/71' HLS30-53007, Factory paint is 113 green, all 4 tires are flat and need replacing. The car has sat since 1995 (or at least that's what the tabs say. July 95) So when I checked it out yesterday, here's what I found... …

I'd like to get a car cover I could use while trailering the Z without damaging the paint. Anyone have any experience in doing this, or should I not use a cover while towing? Thanks....

Ive been searching for a 70-73 240z, and have come up with nothing. So ive decided to broaden my search, and start looking for a 280 as well. I cant stand the 5 mph bumpers and Ive learned that the bumpers from the 240 are able to fit the 280 with a little fabricating. Is that true? Also, does anyone know if the fender wells from the 280 are exactly the same as the 240? Reason why is that theres a shop here in the states that custom fabricated some fender flares for a 240, and has molds. So i just wanna make sure that they will fit a 280 as well. If there are any big differences that anyone knows of between these cars (physical feature wise), please let me know. Thank you…

I'd like to powdercoat the steel bumpers satin black. Any recommendations for a southern-california shop that does good work? I don't have any idea what kind of price range I'm looking at so there's a good chance this job will end up being put off well into the future in favor of other more important jobs being done first, but what sayeth the forum?

Finally had some time to mess with the 260 yesterday! Little back story... GIVEN to me by an estate exectutor back in Feb. because they thought it was too far gone to be of any value. It's a June 74 build, early style 260. Body is very sunbaked and surface rusted, but still solid, interior was stripped and boxed and labeled by the PO. I agreed to drag it home because it had a fairly solid structure. Put my trolling motor battery on it, ran a hose from a can to the fuel pump, sprayed a bit of gas into the intakes and cranked her over. To my AMAZEMENT, she turned, then even MORE amazing caught. She sputtered, back fired a few times, Then she revv'ed, settled into …

So I cut my teeth on gluing weather strip in place today, I pulled off the main hatch seal (which was barely glued on at all and falling off in several places) to give reattaching it a shot. I used the Permatex black stuff, it's nasty shyte! It was the instructions on the tube that made life most difficult, so someone please correct me if I didn't need to do it this way. It said to put a thin film on "both surfaces" and let dry. I took this to meaning laying a thin film on the body of the car and on the mating seal surface. The body was no big deal, but man laying a bead down on the seal and fighting the damned seal sticking to itself every eight inches as I went was …

Is it possible to buy a wire with the harness end on it to fit on the tach on my 240? I pulled on a speaker wire (from the engine bay) the other day to see where it went, and found that it was loosely connected to the tach, with some tape. Well, it ain't connected no more and reconnecting it in its current state looks like a lost cause. So if anyone has this wire or knows where to get one that'd be swell. What's the proper name of it for more precise searching, anyway? It's the stock coil and distributor set up.

the ZCCA judging rules allows only the proper owner's manual to be in the glovebox for judging, but it doesn't say what is allowed in the centre console. I just keep a notepad & pencil in there, and the notepad was cut so it fits in just right with the pencil between it and the side, so it doesn't rattle. I also keep the tyre pressure gauge in there, but I would remove that for judging. Fair enough? thxZ
